Potentially going to buy a new Tundra, advice please.

Take HER back to the dealer and have them spray your bed-liner. Won't be cheap, but they do a really good job. Instead of cutting the floor under my backseat, I went with a Low Profile Toolbox in the bed. I just could not pull myself to cut into the floor. Plus you have to remove quite a bit of sound proofing foam. Toyota should have done that from the factory. I don't get it .

I learned something when I got my spray in liner. The local Line-X shop said you are always better getting it done after the fact on your own. The local dealers pay a discounted price for a diluted product. They do not get Line-x logos because it doesn’t meet their standard. Not sure what the quality is directly from Toyota.

 

My son's 2015 XSP-X has a "factory" bed liner. It looks every bit as good and durable as my aftermarket Line-X in my 2018.

 

Yeah, I get why they leave out or don't add certain things, but the backseat storage and lack of anything in the center console are head scratchers.
I have a Line-X installer near me who gets really good reviews, I'm going there for it. $650, pricier than i thought.

So what kind of low profile storage do you have?

Getting Line-X, mainly bc of all the installers of liners in the area, he gets the best reviews. What did you pay for yours?

 

Problem with the factory bedliner is they spray over the bed bolts. Pain in the ass to get the liner off the bolts and once you do, you have big round holes exposed under the bolts.

 

I think it was $425 for the standard (non-premium). It definitely varies by region. I am in the Md/DC/VA region so there is a lot of competition. They should discuss with you which bolts you want removed. They should remove all of the bolts for cargo management rails and those needed to remove the bed by default. I got the factory bed extender right after it so I requested they not spray over the hardware for the rear corner “U” hooks.

On another note the details are in this forum to get the older style “U” factory bed extender. The newer style is more “V” shaped which I heard was a newer DOT requirement to allow better viewing of your tail lights. It does reduce the available cargo area. Send me a PM if you want details on that.

 

The Toolbox I went with is the Better Built SLE. It's FLAT BLACK, not gloss or matte. It also has nice D rings and LED lights inside and out. Not cheap, but could pay more. Bought it from Tractor Supply Co. Did not like the ones branded with TSC logo.

 

You might want to ask them to remove the Stainless Steel screws for the access panel on the inside of the tailgate. You don't want those screws being coated with Line-X. Plus it just looks better and cleaner.

 

BadCow...i thought you meant you put a shallow tool box underneath your seats, hahaha. I guess I didn't pick that up in your post. That is a great tool box, I just can't give up that space in the bed, for work I need it.

And will tell them about those screws in tailgate...ty

 

In CT, they are few and far between so maybe that explains it. But kind of annoyed, I thought it would be $550 or so. But all the other options around me sound iffy. I don;t want someone messing it up.

 

The duelers are awful tires if you want anything more than a mall cruiser. I had them on my 4runner, took them off within the first 3 months I had them and sold them back out.
