Hey everyone. I got an alignment done twice and the first time the shop decided to adjust the outer tie rod which I specifically told them not to because the coachbuilder tie rods instructions say not to and to adjust only the inner portion. It then went to the dealer cause it was going there for an alignment after the truck was rear ended and I told them to adjust the outer tie rod back to its original spot which is obvious cause you can tell where it used to be by looking at the threads, but didn’t do it. My question is since it was moved out about a 1/2” will that be a problem? Will it break because of it? Not really wanting to take it back for another alignment. If it’s cool I’ll leave it, but don’t want it breaking while offroad when we are allowed back on the trails. I tried reaching out to coachbuilder a while ago, but no response. He’s probably busy so I figured I’d ask here since so many people have these on here. Thanks in advance. 4B655DDC-4100-4F49-A8BD-5F8FBD3A40C6.jpg

I'd default to having it installed correctly, so ya, prob worth it to fix it. Couldn't you count the roatations on each while backing it back to where it should be? Like if marked a part of each nut parallel to the other, and used the marking to count a full rotation. Back the right nut 6 rotations up the thread, move the left nut 6 rotations. Once right nut encounters resistance, you're likely where it was previously, and can do a quick final tightening. If markings are still parallel and it's tight, you should at the same alignment

That makes sense to me anyways

Not to hijack, but what are your thoughts on the tie rods? worth the money? any issues?

I mean sure I can and I’ve thought about it, but not 100percent on how that will affect the alignment. Not an alignment specialist. Wish I was. I guess I will adjust it myself back to original place and do what you said then take it in to see what they do after. I’ll put some blue tape and a note on it saying to not touch it. Since apparently people don’t look at the notes on the work order.

Well I never had issues with the OEM ones, but I upgraded everything on the trucks suspension cause I use it Offroad so I figured since it was beefier I would put it on. Plus when I built the rig up I was working so much OT that money wasn’t an issue. I can’t even remember what I paid for them. They’ve been on for about 4 years now and no issues besides constantly telling people not to touch them while doing an alignment.
