Think I made a mistake and need to confirm. I have a 2008 Tundra TRD with JBL system including the sub behind the rear seat. The head unit only has Bluetooth for the phone connection, not the media/audio. I read somewhere that 2009 or 2010 head units have both phone and media bluetooth capability. And my wife's 2012 Sequoia has the same deck (non-JBL) with XM and bluetooth. So, here's the mistake I think I may have made...

I just bought an OEM head unit from a 2010 Tundra with XM, MP3, Bluetooth on ebay. And I realized it doesn't have the JBL logo on it. Does anyone know if the JBL sub can be connected to this head unit?

If not, can someone help tell me what I need?

    So, nobody knows?

I believe it will not work. The JBL headunit sends the audio signal with a specific codec to the amp. If you just plop a non-jbl radio in there, the audio will come out quiet/muffled and not sound right.

Edit: This is why normally it is so difficult to upgrade JBL equipped trucks. Usually a replacement of the factory amp is required.

That's what I was afraid of. The challenge I'm having is knowing which head unit to buy that will have both bluetooth phone and audio. All of the JBL units will physically fit into the opening of 09-2013 Tundras and Sequioas.

I have a 2012 Sequioa with JBL head unit. Would that one be a clean swap into my 2008 Tundra with JBL? I don't think my sequoia has the same subwoofer and it has several more speakers than the Tundra
