What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

That's strange to me that they would use such a similar design to a grease fitting. I was perplexed. I didn't think my truck had fittings. If it does I don't know where they are at. I thought only the 4 wheel drive had fittings.

I would rather look like a dumbass, and learn instead of making an expensive oopsie

If that's a bleeder then what's the arm coming down to the rear axle?

 

Load proportioning valve for the brakes. Supposed to send more braking power to the rear brakes when bed is loaded

 

Oh! Neat, so with "squatting" from load that arm moves, and actuates the valve, sending more fluid to the brakes when needed. Gotcha!

 

@Tundra2 I doubt you need to buy new shackles. What's that about?

 

I am figuring with the age of my truck, and how I have used it over the years. How I have seen it be used when I was a wee boy. I may as well have them, and install them if needed when I get the parts/time in.

I know how I am though. Odds are I would install them anyway when I've got everything off, and accessible.

This is just my thinking.

I have a shorter version from harbour freight, non flex head; so I figured I could upgrade, maybe throw that set in with truck tools(in cab)

 

the 120XP gearwrench ratcheting wrenches are the bees knees if you ever wanted to upgrade.

Those and they have the standard sized wrenches too. I have both the long box end flex and the standard sized ones. Amazing tools to have around

 

I feel like I’m about to neglect the tundra for the first time ever.


I’m considering pulling the trigger on the rear disc conversion. But not for it, but the Tacoma. Because well, that 4 year project has gotten nowhere in months

You're only one guy. You can't work on 2 trucks at once.

 

Where do you source the conversion for the taco?
Are you planning on going Balls to the walls on the taco soon?

 

The tundra kit from SOS should fit fine, the only issue will be modifying the cables to fit the shorter truck

I plan on going and getting the chassis done soon. Then it’s onto power train and finally body

 

Do it. You've done an insane amount of work on the Tundra. The Tacoma needs love.

 

Plan on it. Buttoning you’re the interior this week or next on the tundra and that’s it for a bit.

 

Other than little things like my Cadillac horns and stuff.. but that’s just making brackets and wiring really.

 

Today's quick project (aka 30 minute after work project)

Took out the headlight housings and halogen bulbs, replaced with Amazon stuff...

Result = stupid bright lights.

As a nearly lifelong Tennessean I read this in a southern voice It's so damn true too. Some of the rednecks around here have the strongest accents but I was spared somehow.

 

Yesterday I placed an order for a Brute Force Fab front bumper. I decided to do my part to stimulate the economy. Or at least that's what I've told myself.

I'm willing to wait for the right bumper. I like the Coastal bumper but I don't know anyone that I would trust to weld it for me and no offence to John(Wumbo Truck), but I don't want to risk ending up with a huge gap in the front like he has. Seems like that kit has to be done by someone with patience and skill. I can't even find anyone that wants to weld on sliders for me.

Now I'll just need winch and fog light suggestions. I'd like to run something with synthetic line to reduce weight.

 

If I talk fast, without thinking about what I'm saying I have a very slight drawl. If I ponder what I plan to say, and speak slowly I have no drawl. Strange.

After a day or so worth of drying my windows roll up, and down smooth as can be. My drivers side used to "hang" or "catch" when rolling down. I assumed that it was something to do with the regulator, but figured I would try cleaning, and lubricating the window tracks first.

Massive improvement.

 

I was raised NYC area. I just naturally talk fast, everything is rush rush rush, time is money boy - snap snap!
Over the years I've learned to slow it down (kinda), but when I talk s-l-o-w-e-r I enunciate & people will often ask me if I am from Canada. I answer no, & will invariably be asked "then why do you have a Canadian accent?".
I got nothing to that. No clue, but when I talk slowly, apparently I speak Canadian. WTF?

Vacuumed the Trundra. Filled it's gas tank. Drove it like a sports car (time is money boy, LET'S GO!)

 

The Kentucky state police LOVE me when I drive like a sports car. This is why I set the cruise now. Sad days. I like to go fast. My first speeding ticket was 75 in a 45? 50?

My second was similar, and my 3rd was 5mph over.

 

I just replaced my rear leafs last week and my truck is much rustier and ugly than yours. My shackles were great and definitely didn't need to be replaced. I got the HD leafs from ATS, little bit cheaper and all the reviews I found were very positive. I called and talked to them and they were very helpful. Only hiccup I had was the centering pin is a bit too long for the bumpstops and I don't have an angle grinder. Wouldn't have been a big deal if I'd know about it before hand.

 

Im guessing you already got them installed, but when I ran into the same issue installing my AAL with the longer centering pin I just ran to HarbourFreight and grabbed a $15 angle grinder and problem solved!
