Edit: I own a 2010 4x4 Tundra. It is completely stock, no upgraded suspension, wheels, tires or any other shenanigans. Bone stock.

99% of the time the truck drives great. No issues, it drives straight, no drift, or shake. However, every now and again I will hit a bump, could be at 30 on a street, could be at 65 on the freeway, and the front end will shake a bit. It is a relatively minor shake, but a side to side shake nonetheless. After letting off the throttle, or after a couple of seconds, the shaking goes away and everything returns to normal. It isn't a rattle as nothing feels loose, and I can't hear anything moving around or metallic rattling.
The other day it shook harder than ever, and it feels like it is worsening. It was a severe shake at 35ish miles per hour that made me pucker a bit. It stopped after a second or two, and I went back to drive the same stretch of road to see if I could replicate it on video, but it didn't happen again.

Any ideas as to what is going wrong? I plan on taking it to the dealership later this week, but would like to know what is going wrong.

Check the Lug nuts make sure they are seated correctly in the bore of the rim. They can give you a false torque if not seated, and cause front end shaking. All the Toyota's I have owned with aftermarket or stock aluminum alloy rims they can have this problem. You may have a shock issue but I would jack it up loosen all lugnuts on the front and reseat them. Shake the wheel as you are installing them to make sure they are seated. May not be the problem but it is worth looking at.

My daughters car went in for some work at a well known shop and 2 weeks after the visit she started having shaking in the front end. So I took both tire lug nuts (front) off and put them back on while moving wheel to make sure they are seated and that fixed her problem. The shop had the wheels off for some work they were doing.

Suggest you inspect the stud's threads while you're there. Damage to the threads may loosen the lugs and unseating the wheel.

Is the suspension stock? Tires? I’ve never heard of Tundra death wobble... and it’s a long shot... but if the more likely stuff doesn’t turn anything up... you can put it on the list.

There is only a death wobble, when your rotors are warped, but thats during hard braking...

not always - in Jeeps and some other trucks it’s triggered by hitting a bump at some XX speed.

This is true. Mine would occur around 45-50mph. Usually after hitting a bump. But not always. After trying to get Don-A-Vee Jeep to fix it numerous times, I just finally gave up. On my last visit there a mechanic told me to put it into 4wd and I'd be able to regain control instantly. Well on the way home it happened so I thought wtf, what do I have to lose...it worked! Should've been a class action lawsuit because Chrysler knew it was a design flaw. Still I loved all my Jeeps. IMG_0220.jpg

    In response to these replies:
The shaking has been going on for a couple of years. During this time period, it has gone in for tire rotations, alignments, brake jobs, and tire replacements. I struggle to believe that through all that every single shop and dealership has not put the lugs on correctly, or not noticed that the studs are stripped.

In response: Yes, completely stock suspension, stock wheels, not stock tires, but nothing upgraded, simply some all-weather A/T tires, not aggressive in the least bit. Rotors were replaced less than 500 miles ago, so it's not that. Based on the video of the jeep, it isn't anywhere close to that bad.

I’d start looking into any of your bushings up front as well as ball joints and end links. Anything to do with the steering components.

That's a great point, I didn't include it and I really appreciate your help despite not knowing all the facts!

I'm aware of this issue too, but I didn't mention it, because I meant this type wobble would affect the Tundra directly.
