I can only imagine. If I ever invent a time machine, there are 3 times/places I'm travelling to first:

1. Alexandria during Alexander's reign.

2. Thermopylae, to watch the Spartans do battle with the Persians.

3. Rome, at the height of it empire.

Naturally, there a ton of others but those are my main ones. Waterloo, sealing of the Magna carta, extinction of the dinosaurs etc etc

Being a bit of a war history buff: D-Day landings, Iwo Jima, Pearl Harbor, Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Stalingrad, Battle of Trafalgar, Romans vs Visigoths

General: The fall of the Berlin Wall (came down the year I was born), the moon landing (I wasn't born yet...), Columbus discovering North America, the first settlers to land in North America, the fur trade in Canada, the Klondike Gold Rush, the Pacific salmon runs before being commercially fished out.

 

I remember both. Watching the wall come down with a bud at a bar and the significance of it, all he was thinkin' about that gal he was after.
