Why spend any sort of money to have the local exhaust shop put it on for me. Bought this instead for a few bucks more. Figuring it’s gonna get more use with the 3 vehicles I own.

Heading out to the garage to give it a go in 15 mins....Ill update after
The driver was on sale for $169 at Lowes. I didnt need all the extensions and all the sockets but I decided to grab them just in case. Lowes is about 20 miles from me so the gas savings alone was worth it lol.

I bought the set 2 yrs ago and they work great. I purchased them to removed the phishing for the rear shackels and pushed them out like butter. I used the big one for big jobs. And the little one also works great

If you work on your cars, then an impact wrench is a must have in your tool box. Good Buy!

I have that same one, I have yet to find and unbreakable bolt. I take that back, I had to replace the rear body bushings on a 3rd Gen 4Runner, it didn't like it until after I hit the bolt with a torch.

Went to Lowe’s last night to buy it and there was an old man working there that talked me out of the $320 Dewalt one and told me the Kobalt was just as good for almost half the price. He said he has used one for years and never found a bolt he could break with it. I took his advice and I’m glad I did.

I got mine a couple of years ago. I was returning something and I saw this promotion on the counter saying something like," Bring in any cordless tool working or not and get 20% off of the Kobalt 24Max series. I went home and brought back a burnt up 20 year old Makita battery. Dropped it in the box and got another 20% off because of a sale. I practically stole it. Plus the batteries are a hell of a lot cheaper than the major players. I do love my Milwaukee stuff though.

Also, I wanted it to break lug nuts, the old man at the parts counter walked out to my truck with me and the impact and we zipped the lug nuts off one of their rental trucks. Sold!!!!

Quick question, if I need an impact wrench to get the bolt off, should I use the impact wrench to put it back on? I’m just booting up the exhaust to the cat and the torque spec is 35 ft/lbs. I torque them to that but I can still move the bolt more with a socket and wrench. Should I adhere to the torque spec or just crank it down till I got nothing left to give.

Be careful, you can strip a bolt pretty easily. I’ve done it. You could start it with the impact but I always finish with hand tools.

Ok thanks. I’ll leave it as is then. Not sure I’m strong enough to strip the grade 10 bolt but who knows. I’ve got it all installed and it’s good. This is the time when I’ll screw something up. Story of my life always going one step too far.

Get a small propane torch to heat the bolts. Mine were pretty trusted but with the heat and impact gun I was able to get the bolts off. Oh and a set of bolt removal socket just in case.

I had to break the bolts free on the front sway bar to install the trd one. Was trying it with hand tools (1/2” ratchet with breaker bar). I couldn’t get the leverage to break them free. I borrowed my buddies harbor freight electric impact and it worked great. I decided to look for an impact wrench as I like to do a lot of my own work when possible. Home Depot had the rigid octane cordless impact wrench on sale for $149 so I went and PICKED one up last week.

I got one of the 3/8 drive dewalt impacts. I was really impressed how well those things work.

Always torque to spec. Period. There’s a lot of condensation coming through the exhaust, and they rust fast. Factory torque may not be the reason it was so hard to remove. Just saying. How tight a bolt “feels” coming off, is not necessarily indicative of its torque. The engineers know best ( at least for the vast majority of these things)

I have this impact (which is amazing, as others have stated), and 6 other tools from the Kobalt 24v line up. I havn’t found one that i didnt like yet! Im actually going to pick up a few more tools from the line up to finish up a basement project.
