Code: P1442 Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve no. 2 Bank 1 Stuck Closed.

Upon research I see that most people recommend getting the bypass kit:
    https://hewitt-tech.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=12

I am a bit skeptical about this. I am reading that it can cause major and very expensive problems down the road but then I am also reading that the only thing the system does is pump air into the cats to get it hotter quicker for emission purposes.

Can anyone care to chime in and quickly explain why this bypass route is safe?

And after installing this bypass kit should I be looking out for anything in particular after bypassing that specific code since the computer won't be detecting it anymore?

I used that kit on my 2006 several years ago with no problems since, it's a very easy install.

For those that download/read that pdf, there is a link in the 2nd paragraph that's supposed to take you to a Tundrasolutions tthread about AIP. Due to the fubar caused by TS and other similar run sites changing to Xenforo software, most of their past links are screwed. The below link is the correct link referenced in the pdf.

Excuse my ignorance but can you still install it since the valve is stuck closed? Im assuming you can because its a "bypass kit" but still just wondering.

DO you recommend the PPP (pump proxy pack)?

It’s not totally necessary, but it will get rid of a couple check engine lights associated with the air pump. The bypass kit eliminates the air injector tubes and prevents your truck going into limp mode.
