Hellwig or TRD Sway Bar

The short 126.8 " wheelbase on my RCSB would magnify the harsh ride the front TRD bar tends to create, so I left my factory front bar alone.

 

Nice truck sway bar. Hellwig on my 2006 DC and it performs well. I'll put another one in front. Do you have to tighten it after installing and driving the truck for several months?

 

Instructions on mine told me to re-torque after a few miles. Guess it'll depend on how much your truck is driven. I waited a good while because mine doesn't get many miles put on it.

 

I need one so if anyone is selling let me know. What's surprising to me is that many people dont buy the adjustable end links when they're lifted. The placement of the bar itself also varies between various applications. I'm curious of the difference in control and/or ride quality if there is any.

 

I was going to buy the Hellwig, but then ebay had 10% off so I bought the TRD from there so it was a lot cheaper. Even after I lift the truck you can make it work with some fiddling around. But there is no argument that the Hellwig is nice with the larger diameter bar and adjustability.

 

Get what you want and can afford - period - And I am a big fan of the "Tim Taylor" way of living...bigger, faster, stronger, etc. is better. I went with the TRD sway bar because it was in my price range and @Roman offers free shipping until April 30! I can't wait to install it. A while back I went on a long road trip via Interstate highways and man was I tired after the long drive - the Tundra bounced, swayed, etc. all over the road so I'm on a quest to beef up the suspension and get it riding right.

 

Not always. I am not great when it comes to truck handling. I guess because I don't throw my truck into corners at high speeds. But in my Corvette bigger was not better. I took out the 1/2 inch bar put a 1-1/16 bar in the front with the bigger is better mentality. The car understeered horribly. After trying a number of bars 5/8 was perfect.

 

But 5/8" is bigger than 1/2", right?

Hey how u like the Hellwig? im thinking about getting one, dont really care for the TRD or HELLwig just want to know which one would be better, i tow a Travel Trailer during vacations and normal use the rest of the year

 

When I put the Hellwig rear sway bar on my 2018 Double Cab it made a huge difference when towing my racecar. It took the body roll out of my truck. Much more stable when towing and a much tighter feel when traveling empty. It's an excellent investment in my opinion.

 

I to have the Hellwig and for me it was a great investment.

 

I like it a lot, really helps in not only pulling my trailer, but when I don’t have my trailer hooked up, you can take corners a good bit faster with minimal ass lean. To be honest though, I don’t know if it’s any better than the TRD RSB. I just wanted the Hellwig because it’s grey; I don’t have the TRD red anywhere on my stormtrooper, so it would’ve stuck out like a sore thumb.

 

Does the Hellwig come with the adjustable end links or are they separate? I have a 6 inch lift too and want one of these.

 

They offer two different ones one for lifted trucks and one for stock height the one for lifted trucks comes with adjustable links.

I saw on Hellwig's site that they have one for trucks lifted 2 to 4 ", is that the one you have?

Yes Sir because when you have a 6-in lift the rear is still only lifted around 4-in.

 

Ok I get everyone has a favorite flavor. But I believe the OP is curious as I am does it improve your truck when hauling??? And if so how does it improve it?

Yes it improves handling while hauling.
It improves the handling because the rear end of the truck is more planted and stable. I pull car trailers with cars, tractors and pull a boat all of the time. Once I added the sway bar to my truck I wished I had done long before.

I'd like to do a modest lift on my Tundra (maybe like a 3/2 lift or around there). I'd also like to put the TRD anti-sway bar on. Will it work or once the truck is lifted will it no longer fit?

 

Ppl make them work without adjustable end links by positioning the bar across the diff instead of underneath.

 

Back in the day, I had Hellwig anti roll bars (Front & Rear) on my heavily modded Heven67 Camaro
It drove like a gocart. GM didn’t make a 1 1/8 or 7/8 bars, but Hellwig did.



Today’s anti roll bars are just as affordable.

Not so much when you need total suspension articulations off road.
