What's better for towing? Or does it even matter?

I'm not a suspension expert but the block does nothing but raise the back end. The shackles will raise it but probably give a better ride quality compared to the blocks.

I think an add a leaf or air bags would be the only thing that will stiffen up the rear to support the extra tounge weight.

If it's for towing only, airbags and cradless for them.

Yes, add a leafs and air bags are better for towing. I'm trying to decide whether to go with a block for the rear or shackle on a 3.5/1.5 I'm looking at. Just was curious if either are better whilst towing. Sounds like not.

    Sorry, my bad.

Hopefully some of the suspension guru's on here will chime in....

No worries. You're right though. Maybe I should add airbags to the rear of my truck.

Airbags or a leaf pack. Shackles preload your leaf springs you won't really get a better ride out of a block or a shackle. If you are towing a leaf pack or air bags are what I'd put on. But a shackle is better than a block if you decide to pick one of the two

I have kings 2.5 on fronts and tears with the coachbuilder shackles; not complaints here! I guess the real question is what are you towing? If it's the occasional trailer and toys, not sure airbags are necessary. But if it's a toy hauler or bigger camper, then it's a must.

I have been looking at these for a while and wonder if anyone has an opinion on them...

I went with the block and airbag route, tow a 9k trailer once a month. If you do go with airbags along with the shackles or blocks just make sure to get the cradles. Either way you'll probably want the drop carrier kit. Although there is one company who makes a tapered 1" block to help keep the axle at the proper angle as well as a longer air bag bracket so it still contacts the axle for support.

Looks like bigger bumper stops, wouldn't that take away from the travel?

Well, let me chime in here.

I had the CB 2" shackles. The truck had a better ride, but that was probably due to the 5160 shock installed. Now here is the but: my truck never towed the same again, and not in a good way.

Now to be fair, I also was at the maximum limits of my truck, especially with my flatbed trailer and Jeep. 8500lb+
My camper wasn't as bad even though it is a huge wind sail, but it was lighter.

In my opinion, lifting a truck and using for towing, spring packs should be swapped out. My 1999 Tacoma was needing some help in that department and I ordered some leaf packs from Alcan Springs in Colorado, never happier. I tried some other options and just ended up breaking springs.

It isn't cheap to lift a vehicle properly, and it really isn't cheap if you plan on towing with it. There is a reason I have a designated off-road vehicle and a designated tow vehicle. Trying to mix them both is like putting oil and water in a blender.

Stay away from blocks period. They will de-arch your springs eventually

If U get a block or shackle keep the lift around 1-1.25in and make sure your shocks can accommodate for that lift
