I'm one of those 'essential' employees (I'll pause for the collective lack of admiration - LOL). The nice thing is that my job is going nowhere; and I'm busy as crap.

The bad thing is that I'm busy as crap. I've NEVER been busier. Teleworking and all that jazz, but I've realized that means no cubicle chats, no breaks to the breakroom, etc.

Live in Arizona, do Devops type stuff for a regional bank based in the midwest. I've been remote for about 3 years now so not too much of a change in routine for me. I do try and make it a point to take regular coffee/lunch breaks. Its easy to let 6-8 hours go by sometimes and not really notice it if you're super busy.

I've been working remote for about 2 years, so not a lot changed for me... Until we stopped sending our 3 year old to daycare. He seems to do pretty well throughout the day until THE FREAKING MOMENT I UNMUTE MY LINE ON A CONFERENCE CALL WITH 20 PEOPLE. Luckily I'm not the only one this has been happening to. Everyone seems to understand the weird times we're going through.

Ditto. I've not worked remote before (much) but then again most of what I do is via remote access anyways. Systems administrator (SCCM/SQL, server admin) for DoD....so according to most, I don't do anything since I'm a gov't worker and therefore lazy.

But yeah, I am finding that while in the workplace I naturally take regular breaks...not so much at home, to the point where I've instituted an app on my phone to remind me to get up.

Indeed LOL. Wife works at home (telework for a healthcare company), and was in the middle of a huge board meeting...and suddenly her cat (BiscuiTater) decided to poke her head in. That derailed the meeting for a few minutes. :D

App reminders to get up and move are a good thing. I also just picked up a motorized standing desk so I'm not sitting all the time. Living in AZ, I also get the added benefit that the weather this time of year is great, so a quick walk is an option. If you have the funds, I have several friends that rave about their Peloton, and use those a lot for quick breaks between meetings and such.

I've got me one of those Varidesks, but it's on post @ my desk right now. With that said, if this telework thing lasts much longer (and all indications are that it will), I'll lug that sucker home the very next chance I get.

Healthcare IT checking in from the great state of TN. First extended engagement in telecommuting and to be honest I prefer the office. Been in Healthcare IT since '04. The weather here this week has made it very hard to stay inside and not work on side projects.

No kidding! Although if I get frustrated @ home I can take a break, go out on the back 40 and shoot off a few rounds from the 9mm/AR-15 for target practice. (Well, I SUPPOSE I could do that @ work but I am thinking the MPs on post may not appreciate it too much. LOL)

I'm a project manager for a software company.
Wondering how i get classified as 'non-essential' taking a govt funded vacation sounds kinda nice to be honest.

Middle Manager, Developers-Database-Operations for a large financial. Been working remote for well over a decade, 5 years with this company.

It's been hell the last 3 weeks. Things are changing by the hour things in to help customers, and help call centers handle customer's concerns. A lot of hardships coming in. Breaks? What the hell are those?

Wife works for a large Optical Networking company, she's remote as well. Her stuff is business as usual. I would kill for business as usual right now. Could be worse, could be healthcare worker. I really feel for them right now. In the military, we signed up for shit hitting the fan for prolonged periods of time and expected it. Those folks, not so much.

I work for a governmental agency, we have been so busy with transitioning our workforce to work remotely where possible over the past 7 weeks, it is CRAZY.

Cisco networking support for a global group though I still have to go to the plant and image computers for users. I've been working from home for about 2-3 months now. Actually get more done without walk up distractions.
Yes it's been very busy supporting people WFH lately. how the hell do you help someone hook up their stuff at home when they don't know how to turn the computer on to start with!!!

I'm at the bottom of the software developer chain. A Software tester. But it's nice that I'm able to work remote, and that the company is doing great during the pandemic.

How many of you guys have offshore resources working for your company? Has that affected you at all? Most of India went into hardcore lockdown mode last week I think that I think would have some impact.

I've only got 2 guys in the US, rest of our team are global. EMEA and APAC crew are all wfh, nothing is open. Good thing is, since most of the sites are shut down so no network issues coming up. I have those guys generating training material and updating our documentation. The crew in the Americas are still pretty busy, with the exception of one huge location in UK most of our manufacturing is in the Americas.

I’m right with you guys. I run a team of Incident Managers for the largest credit/debit card processor and we have been busy! I only went into the office 1-2 days a week before all this so not missing much aside from the drive time (music and my thoughts) and human interaction

Well, it only takes one idiot to open an email that says "phishing email, gonna steal your shit and crap out your entire corporate network if you click here" with 7 red arrows pointing at the link and you're network is now owned by some 14 year old in bulgaria. So no admin for you.
