08 tundra starts then dies. Happened about five times in the last month . The first time I added gas because it was low that worked. The last few time if I keep the peddal matted when I start it it will eventually turn over. I though fuel pump but I went to the parts store and it came back unserviceable. I'm guessing it's in the tank. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

When it happens try hitting the bottom of the tank with a rubber mallet, then try to start, if it starts then it’s possible the fuel pump is dying a slow death . Don’t hit it vey hard just enough to shock the pump a little .

Hook a fuel pressure gauge up to the test port in the engine compartment to see if you have fuel pressure ??

The fuel pump computer on the drive side frame rail behind the tank is known to go bad and cause this too.

Where's your fuel gauge??? I ask this because my '07's gauge is off by a 1/4 tank, which means I run out of gas at that point, or the 58 miles remaining marker.... you can try the starter relay fuse to make sure its good... Additional testing if you switch your key to on with the radio off, you should hear a sort of whine that would mean the pump is spraying.... You can confirm by removing an injector with a rag on it and ensuring its spraying....

This has happened to me about 3 times. I thought it was a fuel system problem, but I tracked it down to an AC inverter I run in the truck. I sometimes let it run while the engine wasn't. Don t do that anymore. I run it only when engine is on now, and starting problem has nt happened since.

I had a similar issue on my 07, long cranks, if it fired up it would choke & stumble. Cleaned MAF & Throttle Body.....GTG. I'd recommend that along with disconnecting the negative batt terminal & holding brake for 30 sec or so. Let us know what you find.

Mashing the pedal on a fuel injected car while starting will turn off injectors car won’t start it’s a safety just like you cant redline in Park or Neutral that’s why you hear the fuel pump turn on for 2 seconds then off with the key on.
definitely check MAF and TB for carbon build up use MAF safe cleaner if you have a scanner you can check IAT and see if it’s reading ambient temp if not that can be an issue as well. I worked on a Toyota that had a bad IAT sensor it had a hard start and wen finally was running I would get hard engagements and hard shifts IAT was reading -39 degrees on a 70 degree day good luck partner Keep posting we will figure out the problem

Mine did that for a while after adding an intake. The throttle body was getting to much gunk. Removed intake and put stock one back and cleaned throttle body and has been good since
