Painted grill.

So I bought my truck knowing it was driven a lot of highway miles. The grill is black but has a bunch of chips in it. Upon closer examination, the grill actually chrome but painted black. Now how can I get the black paint off without ruining the chrome underneath?

 

You could try some acetone, start in a small area to make sure it won't ruin the fake chrome on the plastic, spraying it black again would be much easier though.

 

I’ve seen a couple of used black grills in the marketplace. Might be worth checking those out.
