I bought my Tundra used and I'm guessing it came that way? My Tundra is a little odd in that it has some very nice features found on the higher end Tundras, I'm guessing its some kind of SR5 package? My Tundra has leather interior, sliding back window, spray on bed liner, the skid plate, heated mirrors, things that are not listed on the SR5 package so maybe they were dealer installed?

I’ve seen that skid plate on a couple of older Tundras here in CA. When looking for it I couldn’t find one purchase.
    Nice truck.
Looks like they added the tow mirrors on it. Do they stationary out that far or do they slide in.

My skid plate came today which was exciting. It’s very nice quality and made in Canada BUT all the mounting hardware is not in the box!

Ya it’s kind of sad that they make such a nice product but making potential customers worry all over not taking the time to double check their shipments.

For clarity: I ended up ordering a Toyota skid plate as detailed above. The directions indicate there should be six bolts and two brackets for mounting. None of those items are in the box.

I know the thread title is misleading but I switched gears and ordered a Toyota skid plate.

Ok that’s even more discouraging knowing Toyota has sent out a product with missing hardware.
Good luck I know how bad it’s going to suck just waiting for the rest of the items to arrive.

Maybe some of the bolts you need are already installed on the truck?

From my experience purchasing dealer parts the boxes never have that much tape On them like in the picture.
I’m thinking you may have a received a possible return item.
Someone like a body shop may have ordered it and returned it back with the hardware. Know from first hand experience.

I do believe this was a return. There are special brackets you NEED for the install. If it was just bolts and washers, I would be heading to the hardware store.

Thank you all so much for your info and feedback. We haven't advertised that our front skid plate will work on a 2x4 for sure because we have seen in one circumstance that a 2x4 frame didn't have the pre-drilled holes like the 4x4. We are reluctant to communicate 100% certainty of a fitment if there could be some variables. We also never get a 2 Wheel drive Tundra to stop in for some test fitment. Luckily we have a great Tundra community here and some awesome customers willing to give it a shot. It's nice to see some proof that the skid plate has in fact fit a 2x4 and we will be more knowledgeable about the situation the next time a customer asks. Thanks again guys!

@RCIoffroad If ya'll ever need a 2x4 2008 Tundra to drive up from Texas for a test fitment just say so;)
I'm thinking about replacing my old OEM skid with one from RCI here soon!
