Pro worth the extra price?

I'm debating on getting a 2020 TRD Pro. Keep thinking of a Limited and add what I want, but I really like the Pro. Is it worth the extra price? Sucks there is no incentives on them. Leasing vs Buying? MF on these are high ~ .00255.

 

I love my pro. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.

 

A limited will never be a pro. Even if you make it “better” than a pro, it still won’t be a pro.

 

If you don't ever plan on upgrading the suspension, then a Pro is a good choice. If you are going to swap out the suspension anyway, you are paying a premium for some cosmetic differences.

 

Too many PROs ruining my resale value. I vote limited

 

Had a 2017 SR5 CM 4x4. Now I’ve got a 2020 Pro. My neighbor has a limited. He oohs and awes at my truck now. The difference is night and day. Recommend the Pro. Buy once, cry once. And... you will still find upgrades you want regardless of the trim level. Just my $0.02

 

What do you all think about a lease on one?

 

That is not for anyone other than yourself to decide. You will get WAY too many opinions on that question. But I will go first anyway. Personally I like to BUY. Not getting into all the details of why I never lease. But I will say this, holding that Title in your hands makes that truck sound and drive even better. Ultimately that decision is yours and yours alone.

 

What appeals to you the most? What do you like about each one? What is your intended use? How soon can you change the suspension on the limited? If considering a pro and limited, why not throw the platinum in the mix. Better luxury than a limited and can get better pricing and incentives with a platinum than you can with the pro.

 

I got my pro because it came factory with everything I would have wanted to do to a different/lesser model. Ive addeda tonneau cover, tailgate lock, wireless charger, and tires. I have nothing else I want to do to this truck except enjoy it now.


It all depends on what you're looking to get out of the vehicle.

 

Look at the brochure, towards the back. Toyota has a nice itemized list of options for each trim level. There you can see how each trim level is unique and what options are shared. That might help you go one direction over another.

If you want a Pro, then buy a Pro. Buy once; cry once. But has was mentioned above, there's no point in buying a Pro if you plan suspension upgrades.

As for leased vs. buy, that's what you're willing to stomach. Historically I've bought new trucks every 3-4 years and in retrospect might have saved money by leasing them. However, I like to mod my trucks and never liked the idea of accessorizing a "loaner". The few times I looked at a lease package, all the taxes and fees and mileage limits made it more expensive than just doing a 48-60mo loan. To hell with that...

One final consideration is the new Tundra on the horizon. Current rumors are it will arrive in late 2021 as a 2022 model year. If that peaks your interest, a 48-month lease might be a good solution.

 

I want 35's on my Tundra, but I really like the Pro, so tire size is limited without pulling the suspension off. Decisions... decisions...

 

Coach builder makes a lift to go with the pro suspension. 35s will fit.

 

Does it ride good?

 

I dont have it. But others that have it compliment about it all the time. Check out the coach builder pro build.

 

I have 34.5 on my stock pro...no spacers, no trimming, nothing except remove front forward flap.

 

The Pro seems cheaper once you add the grill, new wheels, hood scoop, and suspension to lift a Limited. Now you want have BSM, or the back up sensors and all, But you'll have a PRO.

get a limited and do the upgrades. You’ll upgrade the pro anyways, and you won’t get BSM or parking sensors. And the deals on pros are nonexistent.

 

Just get a PRO bed to swap out. The only thing that you are paying for that you can't upgrade to with a Limited, Platinum, Sport or SR5. Love my PRO, but 2017 and lower models didn't get BSM or any of the new features that come on newer PRO's. Newer PRO's have what the Platinum's and Limited's have now. I should of started this with "Just get a new PRO since that's what you really want" I did and have been putting parts on it to make it a Platinum PRO ever since. I also have 2020 PRO parts that have replaced 2017 PRO parts.

 

Love my PRO! My 17 did come with BSM, parking sensors, heated seats and sunroof! And it rides so good!

And best part is no chrome! Well exhaust tips are chrome but I will be fixing that soon!

Well - I'm a pretty tough customer and I shop hard, so I was able to get it around invoice. Some dealers won't budge off MSRP and others were marking them up to $60K. I'm sure the current situation helped since sales have slowed way down for all dealers.

I love the Tundra so far. I've been Mr. GM since day one and made the switch. I've seen and heard of so many problems with their newer trucks. Originally I wanted a Trail Boss with a 6.2 and almost went down that road. I still own a '02 Duramax 3/4 with 200K on it and it still runs great. I would buy that same truck again new if I could.
