Recently had windshield replaced now showing PCs malfunction, windshield tech says take to dealership for recalibration, took it to dealership they say it’s a temp sensor that’s failed (or been damaged) connected to PCs system . They say I have to replace entire system and buy windshield from them. I’ve been looking online and can find nothing about a temp sensor integrated in system . Is dealership just trying to bamboozle me ?

OP, what was resolution or another response or determination? Been to both safelite and speedy and was neither informed of this. I am scheduled for w/s replacement. 3rd glass shop will install OEM but needs to take to dealer for calibration and other sensor installations. Still :spending: but close to $3 bills less than quoted from others.

1st attempt said temp sensor on windshield was faulty , on-site replaced with another aftermarket, 2nd attempt said camera was damaged during installation and had to be replaced, I let it ride until recently when truck went awol had to take it in had 15 different codes said because needed to be calibrated but they refused because it was aftermarket glass and they didn’t install . I agreed to replace glass (not mentioning that I was told camera was damaged from previous visit) and stated I wanted aftermarket glass I would resale , of course it got broken (yeah right) so got a discount 250 off new factory glass . Oh and btw there was no issues with calibration on my supposedly broken camera . Moral of the story spend the money have dealership do it either way they’re gonna get you

if i remember correctly historically for toyota's the sensor is located behind the front grille emblem on older vehicles and on the newer vehicles next to the radar sensor behind the front grille emblem and now is tied into that part of the pcs system.

there is no sensor in or behind the glass next to the front facing camera. if the temp sensor was located in that area it would never get a correct reading of outside temp.

If you are talking about the outsider temp sensor that reads to the dash, i am pretty sure it somewhere behind/near the front bumper in front of the radiator. It looks like this.

Was told it was camera temp sensor so camera doesn’t over heat or something fuck who knows , this is why I hate dealerships shit tbh I figured this time they’d say my aftermarket exhaust was disrupting system and void my warranty ‍♂️ Lol

Thanks again. Got OEM done at a smaller shop with certified techs. The shop also paid the dealership to recalibrate/certify the system (lane departure camera). No issues to this point.
