Stillen Cold Air Intake

I know, I know... another thread about intakes? This one seems relatively new and does something significantly different though. It seems similar to the AFE but instead of the front port bringing in warm engine bay air, they include a duct so the air coming from the front is cold as well:


Got me wondering if having it so far forward, pulling air in from the outside, would be risky when driving in inclement weather. They claim it wasn’t an issue in their testing, but you know. At $354 it’s priced to compete with the other aftermarket Tundra intakes, but I’m not sure how to feel about that front port. I think it’s cool, but is it safe?

If I didn’t off road I’d consider it. Too much dirty air through the front imo

 

I don’t understand how this is different from pulling air inside the fenderwell? Both locations are outside the engine bay

 

My other vehicle is an Audi S4 and the stock intake system from Audi includes a front scoop almost identical to the Stillen one. I live in WA state and rain/snow has never been an issue in regards to affecting the filter or clogging it up...

 

It’s opening up an additional channel for air, kinda like the SABM does but over in the front and without drilling.

 

It is a difference when your pulling air in front of the vehicle with no obstruction rather than in the fender wells. But its pulling air from two different locations..

 

I understand the ram air idea, but i also doubt that our fenderwell ever runs out of fresh air to draw from

Has anyone bought one and strapped it to a dyno? STILLEN was the $#!+ back in the Nissan days

 

Im interested to see if I can do the sabm on it. 3 intakes ports lol i need to stop buying intakes..
