Yes. It’s only in the premium here but I use it every time I can.

 

do you notice a large difference? also the yellow pudding under you oil filler cap.just wondering if it helps to burn the moisture in the oil. i been using 0/20 mobil full.

 

Not really and it probably honestly won’t make any huge difference. But I’m keeping the truck for awhile and feel like that gas is cleaner. I don’t know what you mean by yellow pudding under oil filter cap but I also use Mobil 1 0-20.

 

did you ever look under the cap also in the 3"fill tube its due to moisture in the oil not antifreeze because when i saw it i freaked out. but if you reasurce it many vehicles have that issue?i was told not to worry about by toyota.now my 4runner 97 i had for 20yrs. never had that problem,but i used semi synthetic.

 

No - it costs 50-60 cents more per gallon here in Austin. Not sure that is worth it.

I've not seen yellow crude under the oil filler cap on any of my vehicles, bmw, prius, camry, older 4runner, sequoia. Wonder what causes that yellow crud?

 

I had the yellow pudding goodness in my 4.0 4Runner for my short commutes + winter. A long drive here and there burned off the pudding. Oddly, I haven't noticed it in the 5.7 Tundra in the same conditions/commute.

 

It is from not getting the engine up to operating temp long enough to vaporize the water moisture in the oil. The vapor rises and then collects under the fill cap. After engine shut down moisture collects from condensing after shut down. Most noticeable on the underside of the fill cap.

 

i've noticed a slight increase in mpg with the e-free and i just feel better since a lot of seals aren't rated for ethanol. probably not as big a deal in my tundra as my land cruisers tho

as mentioned, the yellow is from moisture. only time i really notice it is in winter. just wipe it out and put the cap back on.

 

I use it in my lawnmower, weedeater, chainsaw and UTV.

Not sure if it's worth the added cost in my Tundra.

 

Ethanol-free fuel is rare in New England. All the top-tier suppliers here use 10% EtOH.

 

I get a little bit better economy on the highway runs with E0.

It's going to cost more because it's all gasoline, none of that watered down shit.

 

what type of oil do you guys run?

 

Mobil 0-20 full synthetic. I use the extended miles one, but still change it at 5k. Maybe too often but mine comes out dark at 5k so it makes me feel better.

 

The last time I did research on oil filters they didn't even make one that would even go 5k let alone what the Manufacture recommends for an oil change. Filter wise this may have changed but as you say 5K is long enough. Just remember this is the life blood of the engine, why scrimp on an oil change. That is the best piece of mind anyone could have. I know that synthetic is on the pricey side but that is better than having to replace the engine. The only difference for me is I use Castrol 0W-20 full synthetic.

 

Once you got down that rabbit hole you'll see 10K is fine. Tons of UOAs out there showing low wear metals and plenty of additive life left on good 0W-20 oils. Nothing wrong going to 5K especially if you meet the severe use criteria but if you don't there's no objective data showing 5K is better than 10K - wear metals are low at 5 and 10K.

 

It's not the oil I am worried about, it is the filters. So If I would have to change the filter at 5K anyway might as well change the oil too.

 

I’ve been using the TRD filter. Not sure of the recommended mileage for it. I also drive the truck hard, but I don’t know what qualifies as severe use. I don’t tow that much.

 

I've never seen anything to suggest the filters don't hold up over 10K miles either. This is in many ways shorter than many other manufactures since Honda, Mazda, etc recommend filters changes every other oil change and their OCIs are between 7500-10K miles. My Mazda's OCI was 7500 miles and I could easily drive my Pilot 7500-8500 miles before the MM went to zero.

But I get it...I too do "feel good" things that make me feel better even though I'm not sure they're doing anything meaningful.

 

Ethanol should be banned, I avoid like the plague!
