I hunted out of one for years.

It was amazing how many places we went with our FJ-40 in cold ass, nasty weather Montana.

Having one as a toy would be fun. My dad also had a 85 pickup. Last of the solid front axle, first year of the 22RE motor. He sold it after leaving for the military. I was pissed. 2500.00

The values on these things are rising. that one is in insane original shape with low original miles. it really should be parked in a garage and only driven a few weekends a year as I'm sure the value would continue to rise if it is maintained in its orginal condition.

Don’t trade, keep Tundy and just make another loan. It’ll help you pull the Tundy when you get stick in the snow or mud. That’s one of a kind. Old school rocks better than this new shit.

A buddy of mine had one back on the late 80's-early 90's. Nice but he had a problem with it snapping the distributor shaft several times. He never figured out why it did it so often and got rid of it not too long after getting it.

I got mine back in 1981, it was a used 79, but it was great. I brought it to the Philippines with me only to find out I could have bought a brand new 84 for about what I paid for the 79 used. I should have bought the second one just for the heck of it. Anyway, I brought the 79 back to California in 86 only to find out I needed to smog it. After putting the Holley 350 and the header on it in the Philippines and trashing all of the added on smog stuff to the 79, I couldn't get it smogged in Ventura CA. They wouldn't even test it because it didn't have all the smog plumbing. I had to sell it to a guy in Nevada. I should have just left the state then. Well, I eventually replaced it with the 2008 FJ Trail Teams Cruiser. Now, the driveway is full of Toyotas, My FJ, the 2018 Tundra TRD Sport, and the wifes 2019 4Runner Limited. Still wish I had the FJ40.
