This video explains how to get into the door checks and "refurbish" them. I was actually watching this the other night and then I saw y'all wondering about it too.

I'm pretty sure it's not the stop grooves that get worn down, it's the mechanism inside the case that 'pinches' at the stop grooves and just doesn't pinch as well anymore. If anything, you could maybe build up those grooves.

Alright guys, just wanted to close out our door checks chapter. Went to the scrap yard today and disassembled some Tundra doors and here's what I found.
The rear doors (at least on an Access Cab) don't have any visible way of opening them to do the refurbish as in the video. If one did get in there, I'd question the security of their reassembly. Looks like we'll have to go OEM on those:

However, the two front checks do have four tabs and I don't think they'd be hard to open:

 

no, not hard to open but good luck getting them back together.

Stoked on the info @theblurry1 shared here. He was in communication with me yesterday and my internet provider dropped. Just got it back this morning.

I think, based on the DIY video and what I see from blurrys pics, that these fronts may be doable. Backs don’t look doable, but on Access Cabs its not a big deal. The doors are light and still have some spring. I may just do the temp fix on those by melting a hole and filling with JB Weld, per the video.

Went snow hunting again. It was 6" deep in places. I was impressed how well the K02's did in snow, even in 2WD. A Wrangler with bad tires got stuck but we did just fine.

 

Looks fun! Dogs probably had a good time.

 

Ko2s are really good in the snow.

I started to say yes but then I googled it. I guess it's technically the Unicoi Mountains, part of Cherokee Natinal Forest. Our mountains are tiny compared to the Western US but my god are they pretty.

This was right along the NC/TN border at 4,000ft along the Skyway.

My youngest son and I hiked that area 2 years ago and then was able to see the herd of Elk that visit Oconaluftee Visitor Center before our return trip to the Burg. It is indeed very gorgeous country.

 

Stunning. I love the summer time around these mountains with their ‘smokey’ grandeur, as well. I could sit and watch the fog and mist clouds for hours swirling around the peaks.

How did it do in the trails

 

Lol not bad. Would do better with some MTs, 4.56s, new leaf springs and high clearance rear bumper haha

But it was decent. I didn't go too hard because my tires were rubbing pretty good. I need to do some more trimming and hammering. Maybe a 1-1.5 inch body lift...

It popped out of 4hi a few times which is concerning and it didn't like turning with the tires stuffed. It needs more wieght in the bed and better gearing so it doesn't just spin the rear tires so much I think. But all in all I had a blast and it did well. It made it up and down everything I attempted, but again I didn't go too hard.

Honestly I wheeled her harder the first time I went to HF with no armor lol but I had spotters then and I had none this time around so I was cautious

 

Do you have a side view of your front bumper? I really want a new bumper but I don't like how far most of them stick out, they look like a swimming deck on the front to me

 

I have the same bumper (see pic below). I think part of the perception is because these bumpers have a flat return. Imo, it doesn't look bad and I've seen others that definitely seem to stick out further. A hoop would also help cut that perception down.

 

It's high clearance from coastal off-road. It's a weld up kit

 

@rock climber it sticks out maybe 3 inches from the bottom center of the grill
