Sold my Tundra today

Bummer you have to leave a vehicle you love due to circumstances that you didn't choose. I've been there. Still, don't be a stranger on here just cuz you are getting a new ride. We don't judge.

Mine actually reads lower. First trip with the truck it said 15.0. Hand calculator was 16.4 driving 73-74 on the interstate. 5.7 motor and 33” tires.

Nothing wrong with diesels. I drove a Cummins for 21 years. They have their shortcomings as well.

 

My Tundra is lifted 6"'s and I get around 12 mpg's in overall driving. I would be OK with 10 mpg's. Just don't care.. but I only do about 10-15K mikes/year currently. If I was having to drive 40K, or more/yr, I would have bought something else. I'm retired now and my income mirrors the DJIA...

 

I guess I don't "drive right."

 

I get 11.7 MPG and spin 35s every chance I get to make up for my small manhood.

Sorry to see you go OP. I dont understand the disdain for other trucks on this forum. Trucks are trucks and they're fun no matter what you get. Enjoy and be safe out there.

 

I know right? I couldn't sell my truck to my neighbor and have to look at it everyday. That would be like moving next door to your ex-wife

 

This is my average daily both to and from work, fluctuates between 17-18.

 

I was wondering the same thing. Going from a Tundra to a Camry or a Prius makes totally sense if MPG is a big consideration, but going from one full size truck to another full size truck sounds like pennies difference.
There is also the new truck payment where the Tundra might have been almost paid off etc... which we don't know the details about. A coworker sold her paid-for Scion C and bought a new Camry Hybrid back when gas was $4/gallon. The Camry was probably less than 5 MPG better than the Scion back then, but now she had a huge car payment added, that she did not think about.
But I am sure OP has done his homework. I love diesels and the Duramax is awesome. I would make the trade just because of diesel, but not to try and save money.

Nice choice, OP. If I were going to a diesel or even gasoline heavy duty, it'd be a previous gen GM.

So far my DIC says I've been getting 17 miles per U.S. gallon highway and 13 city when I don't have to idle too much to let it warm up (9 when I do). I did hand calculate my last tank and was pleasantly surprised since it had been -40 here when I burned most of it but I can't remember what the number was now.

Not sure why you would waste your time finding these based on a comment regarding fuel eco... Toyota may be reliable but how hard is that when they virtually change nothing about a vehicle for 20 years straight? Yet, they still have their faults. Sorry but I don't buy a vehicle & then climb into a cheerleader skirt & chant their theme song.

Gas mileage means squat if you own a truck that is always in the repair bay of the dealer. I can see how an idiot would would fail to make the connection...

22-26 mpg is not impressive, sorry Ram fans. Lets see if they get sued like Ford for false claims.
Add in the fact diesel is on average 68c more a gallon than gasoline right now, the higher mpgs of the ram are basically irrelevant. You get 26% better economy sure, and then you pay 26% more for the honor of driving an unreliable slow turd. Great thinking!!!!!

If you're just going to post random articles can you at least avoid making so many individual posts? We get it, recalls exist and lots of people in the U.S. like to pursue litigation.

 

Nothing to do with being female. In my cars I didn’t like anyone passing me (sports cars) and I do like to have all the bells and whistles. I have put many vehicles in car shows and modded them to heck. I had a CanAm spyder I spent over $25,000 on modding. Once I was done getting it where I wanted it, I sold it. I get bored with them and move on. I think I am just at the point I don’t care anymore. Give me something that can do what I need it to do and is reliable and let me spend my money elsewhere. And for some reason that competitiveness/speeding didn’t follow me when I began driving the truck. I know though if I got into a sports car all bets would be off.

The point is though, it is about how you drive it and yeah those big tires don’t help (had a lifted Jeep Wrangler, awesome beast but mpg sucked). I didn’t complain though because I knew the trade off.

 

My god! How many MPG threads are there with everyone posting screen shots of the dash display. It’s a damn truck with a 5.7L V8. We all knew that when we bought it.
