I don't disagree but I thought HD trucks were exempt from EPA regulations.

Here’s what’s on my phone now...it won’t let me upload the video I took. I’ll take a pic when I go outside. It’s tinted with something like nite shade, but he put glasurit Uv protective clear coat on top so it lasts. He says he’s never had one fade on him and he said if it ever does he’ll fix it for free

I think all vehicles operating on public roads should have uniform tail lights.
Bright Red for parking & brake, Bright yellow/amber for turn signal & hazard, and clear for reverse.

If you look around in a parking lot every manufacturer has different shades and darknesses of red...some have orange turn signals out back, some red. I looked up our highway traffic act rules for this sort of stuff, and as long as my lights are visible within certain distances I am legal. There is no stipulation that I cant modify my tailights. I for certain dont want to get pulled over or worse, cause an accident, this is why I had them tinted the way I did, they're not black. They look factory compared to some cars here at work. Our original tails lights are like marachino cherries.

Regarding the OP, I am putting the black LED headlights on my truck this spring, these tail lights with replacement bulbs (I'm halfway done replacing everything with LED) look fantastic on my my black truck and are super bright and I think will look sharp in combination with the headlights.

Here is what the tinted tail lights and 3rd brake light look like. I left the clear parts clear so it kept a stock look and didn’t hamper my vision at night

    Totally agree.
I really can't stand when the turn signal is just a dull pulse of the red brake light... you barely can tell if it is blinking or braking. A separate color for separate actions.

This standard would help as long as the idiots behind the wheel actually use the blinkers in the first place!

Fully agree. What aggravates me is that $20k compacts from pretty much every manufacturer have separate orange signal lights and $50k pickups don't. (The same goes for locking gas caps but that's a separate discussion.)

I have a feeling that our trucks don’t have locking gas caps because traditional domestic trucks didn’t come with them either?

regarding orange turn signals...I’m going to guess that since full sized trucks are designed and sold essentially in North America they are designed to follow the laws here while being as cheap as possible to make, and since most little cars are also sold heavily elsewhere in the world where orange turn signals may be the law they just carry over to here.

You're probably right. But why don't any of the domestics have locking gas caps?

I remember when pulling on the lever to pop open the gas cap was a “jap crap” thing...I’m thinking domestic cars never used to do that...

The gas door on my '02 requires the ignition key to open it - it's secure and easy to use.

The gas door on my '07 has no lock at all, I added a locking gas cap that works, but it's a PITA to open.

Toyota should go back to a keyed gas door.

Toyota is listening. Problem is Akio doesn't give a crap about what American truck owners want. Start talking Camrys and Rav 4s and you're speaking his language!

Didn't he say he wants to make Toyota sports cars great again? I can support that, even if it's unlikely that I ever buy one.

There no doubt its cheaper, its even cheaper just to complain about the open diff than install a new rear end. I figure this truck will last me 8 more years and if the new generation has it, then I'm set when I get used one. My brother has Tundra too and we both laugh how the slightest bit of ice under one drive tire will stop these things cold.

It's almost embarrassing in a parking lot at work and you stop with a tire on ice or mud and go to back up and the truck goes no where and makes a ton of ABS racket and you have to move forward a little bit or throw it in 4 wheel peal to back up. I don't miss my Chevy for nothing, but the G80 locker would pull that Avalanche up grades in 2wd that I was surprised by.

All you Old School guys, Don't hold your breathe. If reliability is your main concern, (like me) then keep your 5.7L naturally aspirated Tundras (or Sequoia, like me) because the next gen. is gonna be an over-stressed,V-6 twin-turbo, in Tundras, Sequoias, and
Land Cruisers, (which won't be sold in the U.S after 2023). So no more 5.7L V-8's.(rumor) When the shit finally hits the fan, I'm gonna trade in my 2016 Sequoia Limited, for the Last Model Year, with the 5.7L, and I'll probably still be driving my 2003
Highlander V-6 (naturally aspirated) 4-wheel drive, with 345,000 miles. That's never gonna happen with a Turbo, without a ton of expensive maintenance.

Okay and now for the stupid question. My owners manual says I can tow 10500 lbs and the payload is 2000 lbs. Doesn't that mean I can put 2000 pounds of crap in the back? Doesn't that make my truck a one ton?

The sticker in the driver's door jamb will give you the numbers for your specific truck. The half-ton, three-quarter ton, and one ton nomenclature is antiquated and no longer applicable. All it does is tell you what class that manufacturer is designating for the vehicle. Modern "one tons" can have a payload capacity of around 6,000 lbs depending on how they are configured ...

The truck needs another 50 hp and 100 fpe to the wheels. As far as tech and interior, I like the fact that they finally have Apple CarPlay.
I’d like to see heated seats and heated steering wheel standard. Get rid of the fan and go electric. Under seat storage on crew max. 120 volt outlets in bed factory installed steps to get into bed. Oh and the biggest wish a 6.5 bed on crew max.

I think the one thing I’d line to see from toyota is a boxed frame front to rear. Almost every other truck sold touts their boxed frames.
