Going to try and make this short-ish and sweet. Posting from my laptop then will upload photos from my phone so you can see what I'm looking at.

So I picked up a Radflo 2.5 coilover kit with Toytec BOSS rear shocks w/ resis, Boss4x4s shackles, carrier bearing drop kit, and differential drop kit from Darren at Boss Offroad. Speaking to Radflo, they coilovers come preset at roughly 2.25". Also to be installed were 2" Bora spacers to retain the TRD off-road wheels (placing my offset at +9) with 35x12.5r18 Nitto Trails.

Dropped my truck and all suspension off at Trick Trucks of Edgewater, MD two days ago and they "installed" the lift and did the alignment. I could have done this myself over the weekend, but I'm busy with work and the kid so a shop was the most practical. SEVERAL issues when I picked it up today with a NEW drop off date set for 2/21/2020.

    1. They installed and aligned the Radflos at the preset 2.25" height, then proceeded to make "adjustments" to the CMC and wheel well liner. WHY THE HELL would you start with the most invasive process first (see #2 and the shotty #3). Why not crank them up to 3" and see what you're working with before chopping?

    2. Front wheel well liner was completely butchered. Large 12" x 7" section was completely removed from behind the bumper caps due to rubbing. Not heated up and formed, not melted or lightly trimmed, completely removed.

2a. When doing the initial #2, whatever f*cking cutting tool they used they cut into my Ecoological Bumpershellz that were paint matched. Granted, I bought them to simply cover the chrome end caps until I got an aftermarket bumper later in the year, but he proceeds to tell me the rubbing cause a portion of the passenger side end cap to sheer off. What? Come again? Clear teeth marks and a cut 1/4" into the lip of the end cap. Don't lie to me, I'm not an idiot.

    3. CMC completed, but looked super rough. Picked a 1" shard of metal from the CMC area off when I got home. Just doesn't look clean to me.

    4. They didn't even install the carrier bearing drop kit! Both bushings were thrown in the box with my take off suspension as "leftovers." WHAT?

    5. A DAMN VALVE STEM CAP IS MISSING. Small, but bro come the F on.

Shop manager gave me the "we've never installed with these coilovers so we weren't sure how the adjustments affected the load on the coilover." Dude, start cranking and use a tape measure...are you serious? Then said since it was done, let it settle and bring it back in two weeks when they have an opening and they can crank it up and realign it and see where they're at. So they threw everything together at the 2.25" ride height and severely butchered my liners/CMC and aligned it and gave it back to me today. I couldn't leave the truck as I need transportation for work.

I'm going down there tomorrow morning first thing and listing out all the problems. I'm going to request they adjust it to 3.25", realign it, and order me new wheel well liners that I'll reinstall and shape accordingly. The Bumpershellz I can ignore as they will be trashed in the future anyways and the damage is minimal. We will see how it goes.

Sort of just venting, but I'm heated. Problem is I have a temper, rather large, and covered in tattoos....so I know when I go down there tomorrow to confront the shop manager it will get ugly based on appearances alone.

Currently center cap to fender I'm at 23 and 2/10ths driver side, 23 and 3/10ths passenger side.

    How it sits:

Yeah I dont know if I want them to "fix" it or just get some sort of prorated refund and take it somewhere else. I'm not far from Boss Offroad in VA (hour and a half). Kind of just want to drop it there and just let them handle it.

I would be very hesitant to let them have another shot at messing up my truck.

    Sorry, I understand your frustration.

@Ckatz53 I am with you about the cutting. Why not call and ask how you want to proceed since it is was 'rubbing'. Just because of that I would take the Boss offroad option. I am for sure taking them my new truck when I acquire it. So hard to find a knowledgeable shop in my area I rather take it 3 hours lol

no way I would be going back to that shop. I would get a partial refund as they did do some work (shoddy or not) and be on my way. As you know you're intimidating looking and have a temper, try and be respectful and see what the manager can do you for. Just don't get in there with demands and expect them to be met.

That is a bummer! Hopefully the shop resolves the situation, but by the excuses the manager already tried giving you I would kind of be surprised. Good luck!

Yeah just super annoying for another shop to try and clean up the mess of the first. Then there's the issue of the front section of the wheel well liner that needs complete replacing and inevitably reformed.

A simple heads up would have gone a long way because I would have instantly suggested cranking it up and potentially avoiding the excessive amount they did. I'm gonna feel them out tomorrow when they open and go from there.

I'll try my hardest...just incompetency makes me so angry. I'll go the partial refund route so hopefully I can make up what it'll cost for new front wheel well liner sections and figure out where to go from there.

Yeah I'm highly doubtful in any positive outcome resulting from dealing with them any further.

If you do go in there. Do what I do (I'm 6'4 not small and have tats)

Find a chair, sit down, lean back and put them at ease. Then stand up and make your points when the lie to you. And maybe get a little in their personal space to screw with them.

That's one of the worst BMC/CMC jobs I've seen. It can be fixed, but I'd find another shop to fix it. I'm still scratching my head on the decisions they made.

You have a right to be pissed

The fact you said fuck the caps (you are getting a new bumper anyway) shows you are mad understandable and you want shit done right and be done with it. Get those liners, have them fix your shit. and never go back... fucked up

Good grief, it looked liked they allowed the new guy to train on your truck using a chainsaw. I would be pissed too. I’m familiar with Trick Trucks, had an F-350 and they effed up my truck as well. After installing some specialized gear they managed to drill through the side of the fender well, through the paint mind you.

Well you said it yourself, being a cop you need to be tactful. You know if you go in there yelling and aggressive. They will and can perceive that as a threat. On there other hand I would go in there and talk to the manager in person. Tell them the areas of the problem including the bumper shells. Plain and simple shoddy work is shoddy work. That tells me that their main installer wasn’t there that day and had some idiot working on your truck. I believe Trick Trucks are family owned and the first store was in Silver Spring, MD. They install a lot of accessories for dealers and if I’m not mistaken for law enforcement as well.

I would suggest the following for you. If you can’t get anywhere with the manager you need to escalate higher up to the owner, the last thing these guys want is bad press.

As for taking it to another shop, I wouldn’t. Trick Trucks is more then capable to having the job done right, if that store can’t handle it, then one of their other stores can. Get them to send over one of the other installers from the affiliated branches to take care of it. At your convenience and time. Taking to another shop wouldn’t be idea. No one wants to fix someone else’s problem. Just my thoughts!

I honestly haven't seen too many to be able to judge, but a 1" shard I pull off in the parking lot shouldn't be a thing I have to concern myself with.

I'll need a case of em.

    Livid bro, livid.

Appreciate it. Yeah I just sent them an email as my first point of contact and starting a paper trail of my issues so we will see.

Could be just a shotty installer was working that day as someone mentioned. We will see how they remedy it.

Yeah the caps are an afterthought. I'll be tossing a pre-runner on before long. I just hate chrome and needed them covered for the time being.

I believe they're franchised and the guy I was speaking to was the owner of this particular shop. My perception may be wrong though just seemed that way. I sent an email just now to that shop in particular and if that and my in-person meet tomorrow doesn't go as planned, I'll be escalating it further to see if I can get anything done.

And I agree I would hate to dump someone else's problems on another shop, but I'm also concerned of vindictive fixes being done on the truck if the folks there are pissed they're having to go back over an already done job "for free." That might just be my paranoia, but I think about shit like that lol. I'm a pretty reasonable dude and don't expect absolute perfection, but damn man I'm blown.

Not sure how that would pan out in small claims court, and if the $1100 I paid is worth the time and effort. MD is notorious for siding with businesses when it comes to civil claims.

Thanks man. Looks sweet from the outside, just don't look inside the front wheel wells lmao. I'm torn between taking it back and forcing them to do the job right (or sourcing it to another Trick Trucks franchise on their dime) or contacting Darren at @BOSS4x4s tomorrow and seeing if I can schedule something.

Your right of course. But the moment another shop touches his truck. He’s basically taken the responsibility away from Trick Trucks.

Since the job was labor only. It’s not likely another shop would touch it unless completely removing it and reinstalling to make it sure it was done right. Now he’s spent twice the money for the same job.

Let TT fix it. They know they effed up. They would be thrilled if the OP walked away and did nothing. If you paid by credit card, call your credit card and use a chargeback. Tell them the work was incomplete and they damaged your truck.

TT, doesn’t want that, They don’t want a client coming in and telling them their work is shoddy. They don’t want that on social media either.

Paid with my bank card (debit) so not sure how that works. It's already been deducted from my account so not sure how that dispute could be filed. I'll call them tomorrow though pending the shop's response to my email. Super early stages of all of this so only time will tell.

If it's a Visa branded debit card you can dispute the charges through Visa, just like on their credit cards.

That cab mount chop is terrible! They didn't even chop the part of the mount that will cause the most problems for clearance. I did better than that in my driveway on jack stands.

I'm not sure that I'd trust them to fix it right. Refund then DIY if my opinion counts for anything.

    Good luck with it.
