Sounds like your company sucked. I love my gig. Awesome people, solid work environment, free food/drink, no dress code, meetings are frowned upon unless 100% necessary...

 

please tell me you don't see that as good thing? it's not. i've averaged somewhere between 120-150k air miles a year. domestically. last year, i started refusing to travel. it's not a healthy lifestyle. physically or mentally.

 

i'm honestly not sure which direction to take that. part of me says it's nice and supportive. the other, larger, part of me says that's the same shit that everyone has told me for the last 10 years. 'do your hobby as a hobby. suck up on everything else because there is no other choice.'

i don't think the latter is what you mean but my headspace is pretty f'd these days.

I worked for DoD and had to do the travel thing when I was younger and it was cool as shit.

You het to be older and want to stay home more that is when he can stop.

Remember 24 years old and seeing different places was fun

I would chase more ass when I traveled, had a blast doing it and loved every minute of it.

I would be in Florida one day, Texas a few days later and Arizona the next week and I fucking loved it.
I flew private sometimes where a limo would take me to a Gulfstream and I would fly like a millionaire. (Sometimes it is cheaper to find an empty seat on a private jet )
Working construction before I was I.T. I was buffed and looking great and girls would notice. I had some great times in Information Tech but now I am just over it
It got too hum drum, too politically correct and people have changed.

I don't know about IT but the trucks have changed since late 90's. The emissions equipment has had time to mature, however there's still some problems across all manufacturers.

 

Whoever figures out how to make someone get a job will prob figure out the cure for world hunger......my ex wouldn't work a job over about 3 days before quitting

Speaking of this...my company is sending me to London tomorrow! Never been so I’m excited

 

I work in the field. I’ve had multiple opportunities to go in the office and have passed on every one. I like the freedom of leaving every day.

 

It's a great chance, I went a couple of years ago. My boss even hooked me up on an extra two days (airfare dropped oddly enough) and I had all day Friday and Sat to check out London.

I'm into history and military stuff so I hit the RAF Museum one day and of course down town. Look kids, Big Ben! I would have loved to have taken my wife but we can't travel together just yet (she has commitments here at home).

Took me a bit to figure out the transportation situation, hope you have someone to get you out of Heathrow. I finally said screw it and paid a cab to get me to the hotel, $90 later...after a couple of days I had it down where I could travel alone. I didn't attempt driving.

Have a pint for me!
