Yeah, I’m bummed you posted these here, so soon. Seems you have another site or forum where you found these that can feed your humorous response to this tragedy. This thread was more of a respectful nod, until you posted.

Agreed. There's humor, but these are just kind of sick.

    From a news feed:

Nine people were on board the Sikorsky S76 when something went wrong just before 10 a.m. Sunday.

The passengers were on their way to a basketball game when the chopper went down.

The helicopter’s flight path shows it going from Orange County to the San Fernando Valley and then hovering over the Glendale area as it waited for clearance to travel through the Valley to Calabasas. The tracking ends at the crash site in Calabasas.

Kobe Bryant’s 13-year old daughter Gianna was among those killed. Gianna — often called “Gigi” — was the second oldest of Bryant’s four daughters.

Bryant had coached Gianna’s AAU basketball team out of his Mamba Sports Academy training facility in Thousand Oaks for the past two years.

They were all reportedly headed to an AAU game when the crash happened.

In addition to Bryant and his daughter, three members of one family died in the crash.

John Altobelli was the head baseball coach at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. His wife Keri and their daughter Alyssa were also on board.

The husband of Christina Mauser posted on Facebook that she died in the helicopter crash. Mauser was a basketball coach at Harbor Day School in Newport Beach, where Kobe’s daughter attended school. Mauser’s hubsband says he and his kids are devastated.

Sarah Chester and her middle school aged daughter Payton were on also on board the helicopter piloted by Ara Zobayan.

So sad. RIP Kobe. Always a special kind of sadness when children, who never even have the chance grow in to adults, are killed like this.

I agree, Pat. Just on how it happened, I hold on to the belief that they didn't suffer too much.

John Altobelli was quite a fixture at OCC. Close to 30 years coaching there. Highly regarded in college baseball circles. Very sad.

Yes, not to take away from Kobe and any good roll model stuff he was involved in, but that is why I do not have any 'idols' whether it is sport, music, film etc. People tend to idolize them and when a tragedy like this happens the rest of the people involved are forgotten. They were probably awesome people also; just not famous. And even if they were not 'awesome', their loved ones still suffer the same grief.. I am thinking with the headlines, how the other people's families must feel when their loved ones are not important enough to mention....

But I am just ranting. It is sad. Condolences to all families involved. Even more so with the children involved. RIP.

Praying for the family in their time of grief. So many great memories of Kobe n Shaq... the 3peat in 2000-02, to name one. He did a lot of philanthropic work through his foundation. Lost my dog in June, my sister in September, my favorite aunt last week, a local, well known, mentally impaired guy murdered and dismembered and now Kobe. Too much death lately...

I was one of those kids from LA, played basketball and grew up with Kobe. Completely devastated by this. I could not wait until Gigi started playing college and WNBA. She was gonna be amazing...
