I own a Fleet Four Wheel Camper on a Ford Ranger 2WD V6. I'm looking to upgrade to a larger truck for various reasons, mostly higher payload. Considering newer Gen Tundra 4WD. Camper loaded is about 1400 lbs, so looking for what modifications I should consider for off road capability (springs, shocks, air bags, stabilization). Open to new or low mileage 2015 or newer.

I think to get close to what you are looking for it to get a double cab SR5 4WD. That will have the most payload, the higher the trim level and going to crew max will lessen the payload. I see some crew max drop down to 1200 lbs. As for getting a used one, with what most of us are doing to our rig, by the time we trade it it, it already gained weight due to mods that was not removed. With bed rug, seat cover, topper, bumper skins, airbags, TRD swaybars, upgraded wheels and tires, I gained minimum if 300lbs. What ever is on the yellow door sticker might not be accurate anymore. Pick a used Tundra that does not have any aftermarket parts on it. But when the 2021/22 Tundra rolls in, you'll be getting a lot of used parts for a discount.

Good luck! Hope you find the perfect Tundra for your application!
