Hey guy I’m new to this page and I was just wondering if any of y’all have ran into the same problem, I’m trying to replace the pinion seal and the main bolt for the differential is stripped, any recommendations on how to take it out. Thanks50FFBADA-17D8-4777-A2AC-37352170204F.jpg

Welcome, not too sure on the fix. Nice looking rig. Those rear bumpers are rare!

Which main bolt are you talking about? I haven't done a pinion seal on a 2nd gen but all the ones I've done require the 4 bolts holding the drive shaft onto the pinion flange. Once they are removed and the driveshaft out of the way the pinion nut needs to be removed. I think it will be like every other one I've seen and have a section that a punch is used to keep it from loosening up. Once the nut is removed the pinion flange slide off and has the sealing surface for the seal. From there the seal can be replaced. Is it not the same on the 2nd gen?

Often all that's needed is to check the breather. If it's plugged it will push oil out one of the seals. To test it try to spin the cap on top of the breather. It should feel loose and spin freely. Often simply twisting it by hand will free it up. They are easy and cheap to replace and lots of people upgrade it.

I’m not too sure what model they came on. I remember reading something about a sport model or something a while back:confused:
