Hello all! I put LED lights in and the dome stopped working. All
The others work like supposed to. Bulbs are good I switched polarity and all of that. So I took the dome assembly down and started doing a little poking with my needle nose and certain parts of the inner assembly when touched the lights come on. So is there anyway to fix that or will I have to buy a new dome assembly?

All fuses are good, like I say I can touch certain parts and it will come on. I will post a pic of what it looks like when pulled down and you can see the copper guts

The circled areas are what I can touch with metal and they will light up.

Before I spend $100 on a new dome assembly I may try those switches I may have fried one in the process.

Not that you fried it; when installing the bulb the prongs may have been bent and just need to take off assembly and bend back.
One of the links I posted has diagram, i just cant remember which.

I can touch that middle prong like the pic with the spade lug on and that’s what makes the light come on when touching it

Ok. Just to cover your tracks check the 7.5 fuse and plug in new bulbs and momentarily connect power without permanently attaching and see if bulbs work.
On of the threads I linked mentioned possibility of using electrical tape to hold down the prongs, make sure they stay in place.
    Go!

I’ll check into this tomorrow and take the dome assembly down once again and see if anything appears broken or loose

I screwed one of my map lights up in my first Tundra putting in cheap leds, not saying you did, dealership wanted to charge me $500 needless to say I didn’t have map lights. That was my experiment truck all the screw ups I learned and had a much smoother experience the second time around.

I bought expensive LED from HID kit pros I think I may have just pushed to hard on this one breaking something loose. I’m going to take it all apart later and see what I can come up with hopefully I can fix it

Ok so the circled areas is where I can touch with metal and it makes the light with the arrow come on. Any suggestions on how to fix? They look attatched to me

Same thing happened to the 2002 map light when installing reflective foil tape for better lighting. What happened on mine (not sure about yours) was I shorted out a switch on one side as I could hear it sizzle when the metal tape made mal contact.

Ended up turning a negative into a positive by creating a ‘Jumper Mod’. Now one touch of the drivers switch lights both lights simultaneously. You might be able to do this and save some money. Its convenient, as well, due to only having to push one button for lighting.

Ok update I kept messing with the very small cooper stubs as I will call them until the lights work as supposed to when opening and closing the doors. They will not turn on via the push button switch as I would say I fried both switches but that’s not a huge deal to me. As long as they come on and off when doors open I am good for now. Word of caution to anyone switching to LED’s my blue ones look cool but have been a headache to swap over. Use caution when inserting them as they are bigger and pushing to hard can cause issues.

The red circled areas are what I kept pushing in or out to get them to come on.

My LEDs ruined my overhead dome console in my 2018. I was very careful when replacing the lights and apparently it pushed the connectors on the board too far in and apart and apparently shorted out my electrical board on that side. New console is about $180.

Yea not sure LED’s are worth ruining a dome assembly over. I replaced the map, and vanity lights with LED with no issues at all. One dome went in good and the other I think I pushed to hard and jacked something up, but luckily I was able to keep messing around until I got them working when doors open and close. But I think I fried the switches for manual on and off. I may replace those and see. Seems like about $14 on Amazon.

I had bent them after taking this picture, I just inserted the bulbs for carrying into the house to look over but good observation though. This was way more trouble than I had ever anticipated.
