I'm installing new LED footwell lights and looking for a recommended circuit. I want the new lights to work anytime running lights are on so I cannot use the existing foot light circuit that only comes on when the doors are open. I tried the illumination wire feeding my cargo light switch but this would not work. Are they controlled by opening and closing a ground vs a hot wire? Any suggestion would be appreciated.
    Thanks Ray

Any of the buttons on your dash around your steering wheel have 3 wires going into them. One of the three wires is for illuminating the button at night (when you turn your headlights on), you could tap into that assuming your footwell leds are minimal power draw, which I assume they are...I believe it was the yellow wire in my 2010...

Thanks for the reply. The lights are low watt LED so draw should not be a problem. I did try the illumination circuit on the cargo light but I could not get it to work. I'm not sure how the illumination light circuit works. From research I read its the pink wire on the 2007 model, but not 100% sure. I tried checking it w/ a meter but could not get a reading. I could not get a reading on any of the cargo light switch wires but the light does come on when I turn lights on but nothing on the new LEDs. I tapped into this wire (pink) connected to new LED and grounded the other side of LED, did not work. I ran a hot straight to the LED and the lights do come on. Any advise would be appreciated.

    Alot of them
I initially had mine on all the time but had to discontinue running them that way. I have dark windows so at night all I could see out the windows was the inside of the truck.

I can see where that would cause a problem. My windows are not dark and the LEDs are not real bright. I did purchase a switch to control them but cannot get them to work yet. Do you remember what circuit you tapped into? I rechecked and it was the yellow wire on the cargo switch I tapped into not the pink.

Did you have your truck lights turned on when you tried to turn on your leds? There’s no reason in the world that this shouldn’t work, as long as your tapping into the correct wire (you have a 1 in 3 chance) and have the other wire grounded (correctly, metal on metal).

I got it working. Not sure where the disconnect was but she's working now. Removed all wired and reinstalled, WALAHA!!
This is now I wired it- (4 wire switch with 2 each illumination lights internal to switch).
    1. Black wire to ground & negative side of LEDs
    2. Red wire to LEDs lights (+ side)
    3. Blue wire to illumination circuit (yellow wire on 2007 cargo switch)
    4. Yellow wire to LEDs, (+ side)
Nothing works unless lights are on, turn truck lights on and switch illumination #1 lights comes on, push switch in and switch illumination #2 light comes on and LEDs come on.
Thanks Guys!!! Appreciate the help and Love this web Site!!!!
