And a dealer that doesn’t have an unlimited Carfax account too? Okay. Tell me another story.

On the 2018 I asked why it was not certified, the salesman said he doesn't know and he would ask. He comes back to say that it was hail damage (it does hail frequently in SD I don't know how they even get all the new cars covered from possibly getting hit). Prints off the Experian report to have no damage or anything on its report. Asking 29k including bed liner (truck does not have liner currently). 2016 report also came back clean. They are asking 27k with my taco trade in. Valuing my taco at $6,100. I did not sign or commit to anything.

A dealer once told me that the vehicle has to have exhausted 50% of the original warranty, so either years, or miles. That would be why the '16 has CPO and the '18 doesn't.
In regards to CPO, I have bought a CPO Camry and it saved me from having to replace a Computer at 95,000 miles. Since the CPO extends the warranty out to 100,000 and 10 years I believe, it is worth it.
Check toyotaowners.com for the features it was shipped from factory. You might be even able to see if the dealership would install cruise control if it didn't come shipped with it.

Would you recommend the 16 over the 18?

Yes, thank you for this. The salesman did show me the 160 checklist saying that the 2016 passed all of the requirements in order for it to be considered "certified". Then again, it could have been made up lol. who knows.

Lots of used Tundras at lots of Toyota dealers. If I were you, I’d take the time to look around and see what out there. Sure, the 2016 looks good next to a hail damaged 2018. But neither one seems like a good buy. And any dealer will match the Tacoma offer. Shop around.

Will probably end up doing this or maybe try and get a 2020 cement SR5 with leather package for 37k with my trade in. MSRP is 45k with rebate and my equity from the Tacoma should bring it down to around that

Personally, if I could swing it financially, this is what I’d do. No need to worry about an extended warranty or the history of the truck. You ought to be at about $36,000 with your trade if you get the new truck at invoice... then subtract any incentives... and the dealer still makes the full holdback which is a good deal for both of you. Just don’t get talked in to the extended warranty, paint protection, etc.. Good luck!

Looks like you’ve moved on from a used truck, but if you do still want used make sure you check for cam tower leak and differential leak. They can clean it up so do a long test drive and then look.

Well all offers are on the table. Its just if I can find the right one. It also doesn't help that its 20 degrees here, windy, icy roads, and snowing lol

Are you getting the new truck at or very close to invoice before the incentives? If so, and the trade offer is fair, I’d think it’s a pretty good deal. The dealer makes a nice profit on the holdback plus whatever manufacturer cash they might get. And they make $$$ on your trade.

And at $38,000 you get a brand spanking new 2020 with Apple Play, LEDs, keyless start, TSS, etc. The interior upgrades in my 2019 are noticeable compared to my 2017 (the dash is nicer, the LEDs are amazing, etc).

FWIW I paid $30.5k for a 40k CPO DC trd off road. It was 2 years old. Not 4. (No 38 gal tank in a ‘14)

Yes it was close. I'm happy with the numbers. First they quoted me 40,9xx I tried 40k even and they denied that. Few days later I gave them my bottom price and they took it. I know I'm not the best at car buying, now i just have to pay this off quickly.

I think it’s a good deal and decision vs the used ones you were looking at. Post some pics when you pick it up! Congrats!

I hope I helped. I don’t think you’ll miss the Taco for long. We have a 4 Runner... with a V6... and once you get used to the 5.7... it’s a dream. :)

Definitley had some influence in not getting the used tundras. I'm sure I wont for long either. So much more space and... power.

Looks like you are considering new... If you go back to the used see if they would do CPO on the 18? I have had 2 CPO Toyotas and it was nice peace of mind. The 20's sound like the last or next to the last year with the 5.7 V8. It will definitely hold it's value.

I sometimes miss my Taco, mine was a 2000 V6 with the supercharger and manual transmission. If anything it makes me want a Supercharger for the Tundy 5.7. ;)

Yes I'm going new. I figure for a few thousand more I can get a new one. The dealer said the reason why the 18 didnt get CPO is because it had hail damage. Nice! I wanted a supercharger on my taco as well. I'll miss it for sure. I dont know how I'll take it when I see someone else driving her around town haha. Memories with that truck :(

You'll love your Tundra! I am on my second Tundra now. Gotta love that V8 power, if you disable the nannies it is as fun as the my SC Taco. Just traded the supercharger wine with the V8 growl.
    :burnrubber:

Still miss the manual transmission though.
