So lately I've been on this trip of wanting to get a tundra again and have been eyeballing some wnd of the year sales.

1.My dilemma is that I also am undecided on a 4runner as well but I can get the tundra for a way better price the the 4runner.

    2. I'm not sure if I want two v8s in the family as I have a 60 mile round trip commute and the wife has a 2018 sequioa. So gas would become an issue I'm sure.

    3. My 2019 Camry is paid off and not sure I want a car payment again, but I'm definitely not feeling the car scene.

I've always liked big trucks or SUV for that matter and just seeing if any of you have been in this situation or any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Keep what you have if gas will be an issue. 4Runner is garbage on fuel too. My wife’s 18 Camry xse is averaging 34 mpg, we take that car everywhere and leave my truck in the garage.

4runners are awesome. If my family didn't get so large I'd still have mine. Mpg sucks on both though. There's also the issue of not having a truck, that just couldn't fly for me.

I use a Lexus as my daily (F-Sport, IS 350) I get around 300 miles to the tank (23-25mpg) and I don’t drive it too easy.

Keep the Camry unless u need an AWD. It’s paid for, so maybe keep it. My Tundra has been paid for, but I rarely drive it as in around 50 miles round trip to work and don’t want to burn up the fuel quickly in it.

Keep the Camry. Save the car payments for upgrading sequoia. Or save the money and use for car payments and get a 1st or 2nd gen outright and play with it.

Do you NEED a pickup truck? My wife has a 2017 Sequoia that we use for travel and around town driving hauling things like feed for the animals and other things that wouldn't fit in a car. I use my 2018 Tundra for truck things (hauling hay, trips to the dump, lumber, appliances, etc.). We tow a 12 ft. aluminum stock trailer with both. So we need both vehicles for their respective roles. I drive 160 miles to work once a week (320 miles round trip), work out of my home the other three days. I have 2wd so it is easy on gas (16-18 mpg, sometimes more).

If I didn't NEED a truck, I would have a more fuel efficient vehicle for my commute. But it sure wouldn't be as much fun as the Tundra.

Great advice from everyone. I tried working out a deal on a 4runner and tundra.

Unfortunately, we couldn't come to an agreement on price so I guess the camry it is for now.

If you need a truck, for throwing whatever you want in the back of the bed, I would get the truck. Especially things that can damage. I love not being able to think about damaging my interior by having the truck. I have a Lexus suv but I didn’t want the interior all banged up so I got a truck. If your sequoia can do most of the stuff you need I wouldn’t get a truck. Same engine and body.

Get a Tundra. Just do it.

I love my truck. Wouldn’t trade it for any other vehicle at the moment. That being said, my commute is only 10 miles round trip to work. So having a truck is not an issue. Now if I had to drive like you do, I’d get a Rav4 and sell the Camry. I don’t like being low to the ground and at least the Rav4 sits off the ground better. Still the same reliability and good mileage. Your wife already has the sequoia and it has the same power plant as the tundra. It think I boils down to if you really need the truck. For what I do a truck is a must. If I didn’t need the truck I’d get a 4x4 4Runner.

They now have an off-road RAV4 version and it gets great gas mileage. The 4Runner fuel economy sucks. I don’t know if I’d get a Tundra again honestly. I’m a Chevy guy at heart and every Chevy I’ve ever driven has driven better than the Tundra. My 2005 Sierra drove better than my now 18 Tundra. My 2015 v8 Chevy 1500 would occasionally get 22-25mpg on the highway...where my tundra is lucky to get 16. Tundras are great trucks but the only thing they have going for them is reliability. Toyota vehicles in general are great but I wouldn’t touch a new Tundra until they overhaul it with a new motor and fix the issues that they’ve had for a decade.

Sell the Camry outright and get what you like (Big truck or SUV), but buy yourself a nice used one for cheap. I had some cars that delivered very good MPG but I just wasn't into the car scene, I sold them and purchase a second Tundra and I couldn't be happier.
