IMG_20191217_084825_422.jpg MVIMG_20191214_221803~2.jpg Good evening you savages, I need some advice. I recently installed an Icon stage 5 suspension and 295/70R18 Cooper Evolution MTs. Once the suspension settled I noticed that I am rubbing on the damn sway bar on the passenger side when fully left hand down. I included a pic of the driver side, and put an X where it is hitting.

My question is, what is the best fix? This is my daily driver so I am hesitant to remove the sway bar, but will if I need to. Is there an aftermarket option with more clearance or would spacers help? I hit some pretty extreme trails.

Have you done this and if so, how much difference do you notice on road or when towing?

Looks like you are on factory trd wheels? I wonder if spacers would do the trick? I have 315/70/17 tires that don't rub, but I have aftermarket wheels with 0 offset and I don't rub my sway bar.

Yeah I am still on the factory wheels (Icons kinda blew the budget). Spacers are definitely on the short list of fixes. Thanks

I have 35x12.5s on a +25 offset wheel (OEM wheels are +60) and I barely rubbed the front sway. A 1.25" spacer should get the wheels out far enough to not hit the swaybar (295s are ~.9" narrower than the 12.5"). Only issue to watch out for with lowering the offset of the wheel is that when turning, the backside of the tire could be closer to the cab mount.

I just removed the front swaybar and so far I like it and have not had any issues. I take corners a little slower and I do feel the outside front corner dip a bit when turning but the 700# springs help to minimize the bodyroll.

Awesome! Sounds like I will try the spacers then pull the sway bar if needed. Thanks for the advice!

One more thing - if you are going to spacers you should get a good quality hub-centric spacer (Spidertrax and Bora are a two options, there may be others).

Spacers will put you closer to cab mount and the bumper. You might have to massage some plastic liner too.

Spacers and then probably bumper shims if you don’t want to mess with the fender liner after spacers.

Bora Spacers plus bumper shims, the all you need to do is remove the small front flap behind the fog lights. I have the bora’s and shims on my pro with OEM wheels with 295/70/18’s. Everything is good.

I'm seriously thinking about keeping my TRD rims and going with 1.25" BORA spacers. Did you have to trim the OEM lug bolts or do they clear with the 1.25" BORA's??

Or spend no more money and just remove the sway bar and die like a man.

Never done this on a tundra, but my on my subaru that I use to off road, a front sway bar delete made a world of difference. (in a good way)

I am now of the opinion that sway bars where designed by lawyers to make driving suck.

Reviving an old thread, but how much harm does minor sway bar rubbing at full lock do? I am having some rub that has worn paint and a bit of metal down, but I don’t notice the rub day to day. Also don’t notice any issues on the tires thus far.

Would a sway bar drop bracket help this or make it worse ?
