Bilstein 5160 reservoir frame mount??

First question is if the Bilstein 5160 reservoir has to be mounted to the shock or can it be frame mounted with a bracket?

Second question is if anyone has done a frame mount for the 5160, what did you do and are there any pictures?

My buddy just got them for his Tacoma and they included a frame mount for the reservoirs. Wondering if new tundra 5160 kits come with a frame mount as well.

 

Mine came with the clamps and spacers to clamp them to the shock. I bought the Bilstein mounting kit from Amazon.

So for you 5160 swappers, I have a question. Do you need to do anything else to the truck if you put the 5160's at all 4 corners, and front on about the middle setting? In other words, all of the posts talking about diff drop, bearing angles, etc??? I want to put the 5160's on, but don't want to do the other stuff. Not interested in lifting, only slight front end lift/level.

 

5160 are onlyvforbthe rear the matching set is the 6112s for front

 

So if I go with 6112's in the front, do I have to concern myself with the comments in my original post?

 

6112s dont have a reservoir just new strut and new coil

No need for carrier bearing spacer if you don’t lift the rear. 5160’s don’t lift the rear.

As for the front, I’m not a believer in the diff drop. I set my 6112’s at 1.9” and did not do the diff drop. Others believe it’s necessary to keep the CV axles more in line with the stock geometry if you lift the front with coilovers.

 

Nope. Just put them on. Don’t worry about a diff drop unless you go higher in front. Tears don’t need to do anything

Oh, and as for the frame mounted reservoir, I suppose you could do that, but you’d probably have to fabricate the mount. Easier to just buy the aluminum piggy-back bracket and attach it that way I would think.

 

Here ya go! Personally I would run the bilstein piggyback mount listed by those other guys

 

I won’t coat tail what others have said but of you raise/level the front end you will need an alignment afterwards
