Ok. Didn’t realize this. Where does it sound like its coming from? That piston connected to pedal to booster?

Old world thoughts never die and people are too stubborn to listen. When I was a tech those fluid svcs were easy money. It does a total disservice to the industry when poor advice is continually passed around.

Your brake pedal squeaks when you depress it. Have you tried disconnecting the push rod to the brake booster and pushing the brake pedal then to see if the noise goes away. I have seen a few noisy boosters. That would help pinpoint the noise. Also you could disconnect the spring and push the pedal see if it still makes the noise. What I am getting at is diagnose it and not just throw parts at it. Isolation of parts slowly will help as soon as the noise goes away whatever you disconnected is what was causing the noise.

I'm really not sure. I just know it squeaks when I let off the brake.

That's a fair point. I'll mess with it this weekend.

As a mechanic I hate seeing people just throwing parts at something and wasting money. I'd rather see people walked through properly diagnosing the problem and pinpointing the issue than me telling you the many different possibilities of what it could be.

Ex. I have a missfire and 50 people answer with 50 different or similar reasons why there is a missfire and said person replaces everything that was said with no definitive result. There is a reason shops charge diagnostic fees and good mechanics don't just throw the part to the code that was thrown.

I agree with this logic. Sometimes people just don’t know how to diagnose some things though. There are times I’ll throw parts at it since she’s got 200K miles and it’s a wearing part. Preventative maintenance is never a bad thing

I have a question for you Northern state guys and states that use a lot of the brine. How suseptable are these truck frames to rusting issues. My Tacoma had it's frame replaced. I've been saving and looking at getting a 1st gen for a while just want to know if I should be very cautious about where the truck comes from. I have someone that's a hotshot hauler that can pick it up for me anywhere in the country.

This is true even electronic parts become sluggish over time and can cause little issues that may not even throw codes. Like O2 sensors being sluggish can cause poor fuel economy and performance. With the internet though you can find the diag. flow charts and the parameters at which most electronic and mechanical parts should be at.

Very susceptible. People post here a few times a week asking for help on their frame rotted 1st gen. I would look for a southern truck.

These trucks have frames that seem to rust quickly.

Find one from a rust free state. Texas is a great option:anonymous:

Be very careful even if its in any part of the country as people may buy and/or move from the North to South or West with it. We’ve seen quick members here posting up pictures of potential buys they are interested in acquiring.

They show us the advantageous dealer pictures of outside the frame. We request we want to look into the boxed portion and see the rear crossmembers as well as the front box under the engine area.

Same areas as your Tacoma problems, I’m sure.

Yeah I'll look carefully at the CaraFax where it was originally registered. Thankfully most of the ones I've been looking at have been 1 or 2 owner only vehicles seems like people like to stay in these trucks for the long haul. Too bad there isn't as big of a marketplace on here for the trucks.

I've been looking since before you went for one. MOAB took my attention away from looking. This will be vehicle #2 in the stable and more of the DD but it's still going to get the goodies.

Yeah... Lots of people seem to have issues with logical thought. Nothing new. Educated guesses when applied under the umbrella of sound effort/ impact analysis isn't a failure of logic. Blindly throwing money at an issue is.

:D We've been talking trust me on this one. I think full plate to start. Not sure the demand for a hybrid on these trucks.

This is what we've been discussing

    1st gen
Sliders, skids, full plate front, HC rear, regular rear, bed rack???

    2nd & 3rd gen
    Bed rack check
    sliders for 2nd gen compatibility
    full plate front for 3rd
check sliders for compatibility for AC
    skids
    streamline bumper
    regular rear bumper

You willing to be without the truck for a bit. Nothing is happening until after the new year. Already got one guy lined up possibly for a test truck, just need to work out the details. My truck goes down there as well soon and finally!!!! :bananadance:

What exactly is tip end? Yeah. She said. Also, one of the worst hand models for injectors ever.

Yeah seems weird to call it the tip that's not really the industry nomenclature nozzle is correct and makes more sense.

Got an alignment. I resent the hell out of having to pay anyone to do anything for me but damn....I was only half a degree off the toe angle but what a huge difference it made. My steering was all over the place on the way in, and rock solid on the way home. Worth the $89 even if a I hated paying it.

I see you're a vendor on a tundra site with no tundra products to sell us. Any plans to start building 1st gen armor? We desperately need more rear bumper options.

Edit: ok cool. I need a HC rear bumper with a tire swing out.
I emailed the local Toyota armor shop in Houston, Shrockworks, and they still haven't replied in about a week.

We don't have a HC rear for the tundra???? Curious where you found that.

Right now it's just 3rd gen sliders and streamline. But we need to confirm some things on those items for fitment on other models.

We do have plans to offer an entire line up of armor for the first gens.

Schrockworks in TX??? Only one I know of is a small shop in CA out of the dude's garage making Tacoma armor.
