I've noticed that around 70% of the time my truck will "thump" shifting from 1st to 2nd as I accelerate. I saw on another thread someone said the first time this happened to them they actually looked in their rear view mirror to see if they had been rear ended. I did the same the first time it happened, it was a noticeable jolt. I've only noticed it between 1st and 2nd. I've seen it referenced here on the forums enough times to make me wonder; is this a known thing? I bought my '18 Tundra used from the dealership and it currently has 32K miles on it and I was on the verge of taking it in and having them check it out. But with the few mentions I've seen here are we considering this "normal" or should I be worried about transmission issues down the line?

I have also been feeling the same thing on my 2015 Tundra (78,000 miles) - Here's a post I made the other day and link to the thread.

I've taken the truck in twice but can't replicate the problem with the tech because the truck is at "optimal driving temps" once I get it to the dealership. I only have this issue for the first bit of driving the truck. I feel this bump / jolt from 1st to 2nd at all the stoplights on the way to the freeway in the morning.

...and yes, I've seen the same thing of people saying it's normal - seems weird though, almost like it's "hurting" the transmission.

    ---

Just purchased used 2015 Tundra 1794 Edition 4x4 w/ 72,000 miles over the summer and have also been noticing this "bump" "late shift" "delayed" type of jolt behavior, from 1st to 2nd, when the truck is cold. Located here in Southern California, I only drive 10 miles to work and 95% of the time the truck is not in any extreme temperatures - with that being said I feel this "bump" from 1st to 2nd daily on my drive to work, it's really annoying and makes the transmission feel clumsy for that first bit of driving. I'm coming from a 2003 Tacoma that shifted like butter.

(when the truck is cold) If you accelerate really slow, you don't feel it. If you accelerate really fast, you only kind of feel it.. If you accelerate at a "normal" rate of speed - YOU FEEL THIS BUMP :(

For a tech to really notice this "bump" from 1st to 2nd you will have to drop your truck off the night before they perform the test drive. I've taken mine in twice now and they "can't feel anything"... because the truck is already up to ideal operating temps ... . So my THIRD time bringing the truck in I'll leave it over night, and yes, I feel they will tell me exactly what I already know... something about "getting up to optimal temps etc" ...

If anyone has figured this out let us know! Other than that, for the time I guess I'll accept it's kind of annoying to drive for the first bit of the ride hahahah
