No warning...would NOT start the truck Sunday morning at -10°C (32°F)

    Dealer tested: dead cell.

New battery on warranty....next time, I'll have to pay for it so I will get a better one.

I have a toyota battery from 2014. Ive filled it with water, a few cells were low. But I will get it replaced before the summer heat sets in, I’ve got like 2 months

Batteries is one of those topics like which oil to use. You'll get a million different opinions. The last Interstate MT34 I put in my Chevy lasted 10 years. My mechanic says the Legend batteries are pretty good. That is in my Corolla XRS.

I yanked the factory battery when it was 4 1/2 years old and put in an optima yellow top. I was doing a big road trip from California to Nebraska and I didn’t want to have any headaches.

What is the warranty on Toyota batteries?
Today was the first real cold morning for us (37 F) and my truck (2017 also) almost didn't start this morning, it just had enough to turn it over and fire it up.

I don't have extended warranty...so the warranty on the battery is 3year/60000KM (I'm in Canada...)

Yes stock batteries suck. Mine lasted not quite 3.5 years.

Cut the sarcasm. It’s been proven Toyota OEM batteries suck. My Tundra and Sienna batteries didn’t even last 2 yrs. Both stranded me with no warning. Completely dead cells that wouldn’t even jump. Wear and tear items like brakes my a**!

Not trying to throw stones but why are so many people expecting huge life spans from their batteries? I'm happy I got 3 years out of mine. Where I live is brutal on batteries...they have life expectancy maps for auto batteries and 2-4 years seems about norm

Because where I live and based on my experience I always get 4 yrs out of a battery and then it gets weak, usually doesn't test well during an oil change, and I swap it out before getting stranded. Both of my Toyota's had batteries inside of 2 yrs that exhibited no signs of weakening or issues and then went completely dead with bad cells and couldn't be jumped. I've never had batteries do this in all my years of driving which includes some pretty crappy vehicles, but 2 issues with 2 brand new Toyotas. I think I have a reason to be upset.

Dying before 2 years...I agree you definitely should be upset. I'm more referring to others that want 4+years out of a battery

Not sarcasm. Just didn't see the value to know you're replacing a dead battery since we all know the OEM batteries don't last so long which is why you get a new one under warranty.

Its not that a battery can’t be designed to last 4-6 years. It is that Toyota chose to go with a battery supplier with a cheap/crap design and it might last 2 years.

& 6 days ago the dealer replaced mine as well. 2018 with 15,000 miles.
