Question on TRD Air Intake Installation

I attached a picture of my installed Trd air intake. I circled my area of concern. I’ve pushed the top as far back and down as it will go. I’ve watched some other install videos and I saw in another one it was the same way. My question is why is this like this or do I not have it pushed on correctly. I just didn’t think any of the filter should be showing. Does anyone else have this installed and see the same thing?

 

Wht do you feel it shouldn't show?

It's basically a compression fit at those points as you can see by the cut in this and the OE airbox.

IMO, if it seals OK - all is well.

 

I’m just comparing it to how the stock one fit over the filter. I’ll double check to make sure it’s sealed. Thanks.

 

Someone with the same intake hopefully will chime in, that's just my opinion..

 

Their install instructions even show the filter element in that spot

thank you! Definitely loving the filter. I know a lot of people say it’s a waste of money. I don’t think so. It looks and works great and I can hear it when I start it and step on the gas. I’ll be installing the dirty deeds standard 8 “ as soon as it comes in so those two together will make the truck sound nice and aggressive.

 

Awesome thank you! It’s a lot of fun putting stuff on your truck yourself. I got the trd pro skid plate in too. Just gonna get it powder coated black and then put it in. Don’t want to deal with taking the skid plate off for every oil change since I coated the underside in woolwax.

 

Just think of it as an extra touch of RED!

 

Stock is same way but with the black rubber around filter it goes unnoticed. Caused me a double take upon install

 

The more red you have the faster your truck is. It’s simple science

 

Plus you have to start with the correct color......which you have.

 

Not only is it the fastest color, but also the best looking

dealer tried to talk me into getting the mesquite brown. Thought it looked really bad with the black leather and brown exterior. Plus my boss, who also owns a tundra said if I buy a brown truck he’s naming it the turdra lol. Told the dealer get me mgm or I’m not buying a truck from him.

 

Mines the same. Totally normal.
