Ok am I crazy or what? Bought this amp research bedstep bumper step to get up in the bed since lifting the truck. I have a camper top and getting in and out has to be at the back or side of tailgate. Well the picture online shows the step coming out right on the side of the tailgate which I thought would be perfect. Get most of it mocked up and realized it’s gonna pop out on the side behind the back wheel. That does nothing for me since I’ve got a cap. So after a few mins debating to send it back, I decided to modify and have it at an angle which works pretty well. So I guess amp just has crap pictures on the site or I ordered some different. Oh well it’s over now. :cheers:E01AB99E-05D8-44C9-8C3F-72C9A036E207.jpgF3B85408-DB4A-481E-AD4A-4A0317348556.jpg

Ha! Didn’t think I would buy a “man step” this early in my life.

Instead of the "man step" call it the "man up"!

Amen brother. I ordered some ditch lights and told her she could use them for walking the dog when we take trips, and she bought it!

Yea keep things neat. It was my dads living room rug back when he was still around. I remember shortly before he passed he asked me what I was going to do with that big of a rug, I said put it in my garage, he thought I was crazy.

There are two different versions of this. One is to the side, and the other is diagonal.

See I thought there was another one, so I’m not crazy after all! Thanks for the info. I’m just glad it works, solid too. Nice truck, love the color.

I like working on it. Laying on the floor isn’t so bad.

As an FYI for others interested in buying the AMP steps:
I have been looking at the AMP Bedstep for a while, and since my truck is slightly lifted and and I am slightly old, I have decided to order the step. I ordered from AutoAnything. The pictures they have on their site is wrong. From the AMP site I realized that there are 2 models - one that has the step coming out the back like @OR18TRD's (although it does not look like it is the AMP step, maybe another similar brand?; but the AMP is similar on how it slides out) and one that has it coming out the side like @MAGDADDY's. The last one is for the resin bumpers. So, the one that comes out the side shows up on their pictures as coming out diagonally to the back, so I order that since it states that it is for the resin bumper models. Fortunately when receiving it I realized the difference prior to installing it, so I returned it for the "non-resin" bumper style. My understanding is that there is a little cutting of the bracket needed to make it fit - I will see when I receive it.

75316-01A comes out to the side and do not fold up tight to the bumper line
75309-01A comes out diagonally to the back and fold up following the bumper contour

    Not nearly enough room here!

Then, upon researching/shopping I happened onto Bestop's model. Operates the same, lower cost, larger step surface and more slip resistant, which is especially important when stepping down from the bed (when you're a relic like me):D

You have to cut the bracket that supports the bumper, or install the new bracket that comes in the non resin kit. I installed the new bracket, which was a pain, and I'd recommend cutting the factory one if you're comfortable with it. The factory bracket is much more robust and you don't have to remove the bumper skid pad, hitch wiring plug or license plate.
