When the truck is in first gear or reverse it makes a dragging sound. We thought the tire or the breaks were rubbing but my husband got under the truck and its nine of those reasons. We took it to a mechanic and he said it was the transfer case so we paid for that to be swapped out but its still making the noise. Thoughts?

Do you have any audio? Narrowed down to where under the truck?

Yes we can hear the noise and it sounds like it's coming from under the truck just can't pin point the exact location.

I would put it on jack stands, start it, put it in gear, and get underneath of it. But that’s unsafe and stupid. The better idea would be to pay a mom and pop shop a few bucks to put it on a lift and point out the noise.
