Toytec lift installed incorrectly?

I think I may have a problem. I had a local shopinstall the Toytec Boss lift on my 2017 Tundra Crewmax today. I ordered the complete kit with UCAs, 700lb front coil overs, and rear 3 leaf AAL spring pack.

When I picked it up, the rear looked lower than the front, but could not tell for sure - dark and the parking lot was not level.

when I got home was poking around and it looks like the overload leaf was removed from the stock pack and the add a leaf wasinstalled directly on the spring mount pad. The description on the Toytec site says the spring pack mounts on top of the overload. Is this correct?

in any event, didn’t get as much rear lift as expected - maybe 3/4” - 1”.

Yep, looks like they removed the overload spring and installed your 3 leaf aal. They probably thought the were supposed to remove the overload. I've installed aal's before and it says to remove, but now days, I don't think your supposed too. Take it back and tell them install the overload spring back on the bottom of the pack. That should give you the lift you were supposed to achieve.

 

The aal's I've I've installed before, was on a couple Tacoma's, they were 2" aal. Which has a good bit of arch to them, might be why those were supposed to remove the overload. I'd definitely take it back and have them reinstall the overload. Hopefully they didn't throw them away.

As stated above, the overload was removed.

For the 07+ Tundra 4WD/2WD the progressive 3 pack AAL provides approximately 1.5" of lift installed on top of your overload spring.

If you want, take some ride height measurements from center of wheel hub to edge of fender in the front / rear and let me know. My guess is that you are going to be about 25'' front and 24.5'' ish rear...

I installed the Icon pack (same 3 leaf expansion idea). They stated it would be OK to install without the overload being that I only wanted about 3/4" lif.

...fast forward 6 months, my leaf pack was so clapped out I was actually sitting lower than stock.

Then I reached out asking why I lost so much height, they said why did you install without the overload? We can't warranty that.

I screen shot my convos and they said.....oh, well, uhhhh - we will send you a new expansion pack. Make sure to install the overload this time..

FYI, ran the same pack without the overload intentionally because it rides much better. 3/4” lift after it settled in. Added 1” blocks to get the correct ride height. Worked really well.

 

How did it perform towing / hauling?

I have a heavy boat and haul with some frequency.

 

Noticeable improvement with weight carrying, my truck gets run hard off road loaded heavy. No towing though, think you want that overload for towing regularly.

 

Front is 25.5 and 25.25
Rear is 24.25 and 24.5

 

That is one clean undercarriage.

Ok, the shop still had the overloads, going to”fix” it on Friday. PNTA , but all will be fine.

So the story ends with the overloads being replaced. Looks like I got 1 1/2” inches of rear lift and a bit more than 3” up front ( will crank it down a bit more tomorrow). Sorry, no pic, I’m scared of the dark......

Can you recall what the front coils were set at. I'm going Elka 2.5 fronts, setting them around 1.75", and would like to keep the rake for towing and lighter loads. How did the rear ride/handle in comparison to the factory before and after?

 

Looking for opinions on how they ride compared to stock with the overload. I was set on shackles and now considering the same leaf package.
