I believe the TRD kit lowers the front 2 inches and the rear 4 inches.

See above. I originally posted that it was TRD lowered and supercharged.

 

So with dropping the rear 3.25 you weren’t nose high? When I lifted the front 2” it was almost level with a tad of rake, sometimes looking nose high, depending on the ground I was parked on.

 

Nope, it sits perfectly level.

 

What is the black horizontal pipe that seems attached to the exhaust?

 

That is the resonator that came with my BAMuffler cat-back, I removed it a few days later because it doesn't play well with the shortened tail pipe. I installed a blocking plate in its place.

Extremely curious how you can lower your truck without losing ground clearance?

What am I missing?

 

Since he didn’t lower the front which is the lowest part of the truck he didn’t really lose anything. The rear of his truck is just spring under now. so lost a little bit near the rear wheels at the frame and departure angle. But for the most part the truck should be able to do everything it did before.

 

That doesn’t look “lowered”. It looks like how trucks used to sit 20 years ago when I could reach into the damned bed.

Gotcha, I figured that's what was going on. Truth is he lost a bunch of clearance since everything is 3.25 inches lower in the rear. Approach angles are different and body panels, frame, and clearance under the back axle. Also the running boards. Since hes not offroading then it shouldn't matter but the truth is he definitely lost ground clearance in every real world sense of the word. I wonder if thats why he changed his rear bumper...

 

No, I did not lose any ground clearance - none, and the trucks scrub line is unchanged.

I do lose a little ground clearance when I roll around on my summer tires because they are shorter than stock, so they lower the entire truck just a bit.

I installed the n-fab bumper because I like it.

 

Well what I was saying is technicallly,your right, but that doesn’t transfer to real world. Going over a steep bump you’ll bottom out a lot quicker on your frame, bumper, body panels etc...your truck vs a stock truck would be less capable going over obstacles due to the real world lower clearance. Ok so the diff height didn’t change,which is technically the lowest point but that number is for marketing and doesn’t address the geometrical changes of what you’ve done to the truck which is “lower” almost every contact under the truck. It’s just physics.

 

For instance, when my hitch is attached it will scrape on steep gutters when i pull into steep driveways. 3.25 inches lower and I wouldn’t be able to pull into them due to the hitch/ bumper dragging.

Another time I bottomed out my rock slider. 3.25 inches lower and I would have been high sided.

Regardless of “diff height” lowering will lose you clearance at other areas of the truck.

Well, it's only lowered 2" in front and 4" in rear. These trucks seem to sit rather high from the factory.

 

I love my airbags! I also love that DC loooooong bed! Wonder would it would look like with a camper shell....

 

The only vehicle that I would consider replacing my 2002 long bed Tundra with would be a 4WD 2nd Gen regular cab 5.7L Long bed - and I would lower the rear in the same manner I have on my 2007.

 

Oh we playin this? I LOVE MINI TRUCKS. Always wanted to lay frame and throw sparks down the freeway. By the time I was old enough, the scene had died and was taken over by import tuner cars, so I did that instead. Some of my faves here... Thread yoink?
