Made it to Topeka, KS, 65 mph the whole way towing a 6x12 enclosed trailer. Averaging 11.2mpg.
Cruise Control working until here. Trying to pull Hill it acts like gears are slipping.
Think it may be cause tranny is hot?
    Ideas ladies and gents???

Yeah, dont do that. Our trucks dont do well towing in cruise, desperately hunts for gears. Known Tundra issue for years. Everything should be fineif you dont pull hils while having the cruise set.

Not bad, I went from south Texas to Colorado and got 11.5 mpg with nothing behind me. But like @Rex Kramer said, use s-4. Once I got into the mountains I felt I had more control using the manual shift.

Yea it does! I go up to Manitou Springs often and the locals used to blow by me, now that I’ve got some experience I can keep up with them in the twisty parts.

I hadn't read about Tundras having transmission overheating issues caused by excessive shifting due to using cruise control during hill climbs. I've been towing our 5th wheel trailer from Missouri to Texas to Washington totaling 10,000 miles using cruise control. Zero issues with the transmission.

Our engines love rpm’s. These aren’t the single cam big blocks of the old days

Back when my dad was around I was taking him in for surgery early early one morning and we were running late. I got on it getting on the freeway and he was worried I was gonna “blow it up” I laughed and kept on it.

The owners manual tells you NOT to use cruise control when towing. When towing my cuda my tundra likes S4 the best with the tow/haul switch off. car and trailer is about 5400lbs.

What about cruise control in s4? You have so much power at those rpm’s it will not be kicking down so easily

I personally would never use cruise control towing, especially on hills. I want control over gear changes so I would use S mode.

Known because the owner's manual clearly states, don't tow in cruise?

I read in my manual where it states to not use cruise control during several unsafe conditions like slippery roads, during heavy traffic, etc. All understandable safety concerns. I couldn't find anywhere it states using the cruise during towing will cause transmission issues.
