So this seems pretty simple in how to do it, I just don't want to fry anything (I'd assume the camera has a pretty low draw, but there's no fuse with it either...).

Looking at the wiring diagram here, if I wire the trigger on with the accessory wire for the head unit (vs. the Reverse output from the deck), the camera should be always in when the truck is on, right? The deck itself has a front camera switch to choose the front, and the rear camera will be wired up as normal.

Anyone see any issues with this? The other option would be to tap into another accessory wire somewhere else, but that's obviously more work and probably not really any benefit?

    Thanks!

So looking a little closer and thinking out loud here...I'd probably want to wire the red to either constant or accessory; it says to use constant for a monitor? But I don't want it on all the time. I'd assume the trigger wire is what actually would turn it on (I'd like to avoid a constant drain if the truck is off), and then if the radio end red wire (on the right side) is wired to the ACC wire at the deck, then it *should* be on whenever the truck is in ON/ACC mode, but powered off when the truck is off? I have a multimeter buried somewhere I could test with...it's just simpler if someone else knows already ;)

I used the amp turn on/power antenna lead for mine. But the accessory connection that turns on the stereo would serve the same purpose.

Brilliant idea...I'm not going to be installing the rest of the setup this winter (too dang cold already) but in the spring I will be. I guess in the meantime I could use the amp turn-on to serve the same purpose. I'll have to test it to see if it's always-on or controlled either manually or by some sort of line sensing (i.e. it's on if/when there are RCAs plugged in).

    Thanks!
