Just bought '08 Tundra w/122K. The truck has been serviced regular except for the brake, trans, power steering and differential. With this many miles how important are the fluid changes? Especially the transmission. I've been told by trans specialist that high mileage trans fluids shouldn't be changed. Any help in interworld?

I’d do a drain and fill on the trans and replace the diff oil. I’ve never had a problem changing them in high mileage, your biggest issue may be getting the drain and fill plugs out (always remove the fill plug first or your gonna have a bad time if you can’t get it out I’m after draining)

The good part is that all of those are easy to service.
We had the discussion about transmission fluid the other day. While the trucks in question were first gen trucks, the transmission fluid info was good. Give it a read. https://www.tundras.com/threads/confused-about-drain-and-fill-vs-flush.57136/
I would advise a drain and fill as stated above.
When I did mine at 94k, I replaced the filter though. 15k later and I’m going to do another drain and fill soon when I change the oil next.

Aside from that, the power steering takes ATF just like your trans, so use the left over from servicing it. I like to use a large syringe with a small hose on it to suck out all the fluid from the reservoir. Then top it off, run it for a few days and do it again. A few times and it will be solid.
I did this method on a friend’s Mercedes recently. He was freaking out because his mechanic told him a new pump w/ labor was $800. The new fluid solved the whine.

I do the same thing before I do a brake flush. Pull all the old fluid out put new in. This makes the brake flush faster.

The diffs are the easiest part. Though, the front diff may make you cuss a few times.

Get a transfer pump for the whole job and you’ll thank yourself. (It came in huge handy for me with the transmission).
