Got mucho done today. Sprayed all the trim black. Ran out of time at the end of day, but was able to get a sample of the red inside the exterior trim stripe area.

The door cup turned out nicely. I’ll be painting the lock tab sticker the same red once I start focusing on the other inside trim. Nice to have some color contrast in the cabin to break up all the ‘Moon Mist’.

Will pick back up on things tomorrow.

 

I actually don't know that I'd mind the plastic part of the armrest and the window switch surround being black also. I might have to play around with that. Good work!

Right now the plan is to paint black:
1) Door lock/window switch trim
2) Ash Tray and Sliding Cup Holder Faces
3) Glove Box (Opening Tab Only).
4) Door Thresholds (screws in red).

Considering painting black (but door panel needs to be removed to do proper):
1) Lower Speaker Grill.
2) Door Grab Handle.

 

I have bad painting skills, how do you paint the screw heads, install them, and not chip out the center where your tool was used to fasten?

Well finally got a fuse box that might work for pinning the trucks fuse box for the trailer shit. Hopefully the pins fit. Box is from a 2019 Camry I had an insurance job on. Fingers crossed

 

I just went the 1" lift. I need to clear parrking garages still. I see no reason it couldn't do 2.5" no problem. I had the orange TRD Bilsteins with 2" progressive springs from Performance Products (No longer made unfortunately) on my 2001 & they were great. I had 5100s on my 2004 set at 2" and they were nice riding too.

I colluded with a Ukrainian employee at Autozoned today. After finishing her smoke break, she sold me on the Toyota Red. Asked her if it would help me score more chicks and she laughed nervously. I flashed her my hands to ease the tension.

 

I like the red accent. Can't wait to see the finished product. I've had red accents on all 3 of my Toyotas as well.

While I'm an old Kroil fan, I've seen some tests recently & Seafoam Deep Creep seems to be far superior followed by Liquid Wrench Rust Penetrating.

 

I’ve been really impressed with it, the fuel; brushless version is insane on batteries. Last summer we used it at work to remove and drive back in 150 or more 15/16” hex bolts on heat exchangers.......with one battery!!!

May I suggest on 1) that you get some headliner material or door panel fabric for this surround, I think it should fade in/away.
I think the door pull surround in matching black as above would look good. YMMV.

 

If the dusty ones are the Land Cruiser wheels - I'd say use those.
You have soft curves on all the windows, wheel wells, all over the truck.
The straight square lines on the TRDs are at odds with the truck.

Cranking/lifting with icons does not preload the springs like other designs, such as 5100's. So cranking them up (more lift) does not effect the ride quality. I love my ICON's, they gave me exactly what I wanted on and offroad.

 

I wasted hours with PB Blaster and other penetrating fluids, then I found Seafoam Deep Creep. Shit works so good and very fast.

 

Taking the day off today as yesterday was heavy duty. Plotting out next weeks moves on the interior/exterior paint finale.

On second thought, think I’ll paint the red exterior trim after lunch today as its still clean and fresh. The Monsoon moving in tomorrow might reek havoc on my fresh substrate.

Real stoked on the color now that some daylight is on it and allows a final determination.

 

I find this hard to believe. Then what does it do?
