Okay so I've had a better opportunity to look around my 2006 and I'm getting more comfortable with the purchase.. Found out that the timing belt was done at 80,000 miles and there's 98,000 on the engine now soooo... huge sigh of relief that I wasn't going to have to do that anytime soon.. And also found out that the battery is a 2017 so now I don't have to think too hard about going into the winter with a weak battery.. It's an Interstate and I called the company just to find out.. Also looked closer and my wheels are 255/75/18 which again I wasn't paying as much attention to the size when I was looking at the truck. So the rims and tires are larger then stock I guess..I'll post some pictures because not sure of the rims and I need a center cap for the driver side front tire and I don't know who made them.. All the rims say is EVO and forged weld... I'll post later so maybe someone will recognize them..

An 06 double cab with only 96k and timing belt done? Good find! If it's in decent cosmetic condition, and everything else passes the "looks right" test, then I'd say you probably got your money's worth no matter what you paid. (With in reason)

Okay, finally was able to upload some pictures. Sorry to the mods if they are too big.. I can try to thumbnail them instead.. Anyway this is my Tundra and it's in pretty good shape. Leather interior that is in great shape with no tears or worn spots. And those are the rims that I was asking about..Anybody have any idea who makes them?

Seth419, thanks. I am just looking to find the center cap somewhere. So this is a big piece of the puzzle... I'm amazed with the first post you sent, that you guessed right off.. Now it makes sense that I couldn't find them on that website link you sent. I shot them an email to see if they sell the center caps.. How's Santa Barbara these days? I was stationed out at Vandenberg awhile (long while!) back... Loved that ride along the coast.. I'll be flying into SF on Sat. to visit family in Sonora and Santa Rosa...

I don't mind. Some people might think it's too much, others might think I got a deal. Just don't want anyone thinking I'm flaunting it. I paid $14,000 for it. And to me, after much research and browsing ads and going to dealerships, I thought this was a really good deal. It's very clean, has a newer timing belt, leather interior, new tires, new actuator for the 4 wheel trans. and rides like it just came off the showroom floor. Haven't heard a squeak or rattle from loose parts. All that to say that there are good deals to be had if you are willing to look. I used this site too to get information on Tundras. I also looked at Tacomas. I have to say that most of what I was looking at had 30,000+ miles more than this.. And those generally were around the same price.. And I thank everyone for all the input and comments..Just wish I didn't live in a state that uses salt and calcium chloride in the winter!

Get under there and start greasing.

The grease works well on the frame like you did but you can't spray grease. He needs to spray the entire undercarriage with fluid film. I know you felt it evaporated too quickly but the stuff works. Even if it's not as visible the FF is still doing it's job.

Not knocking FF, but offering a different solution which I know is better. :D

You are correct that the grease I use cannot be sprayed (Moly b lithium), but it can be plunged up into the forward box frame rather nicely on a sponge/rag. The other thing is when afterwards said grease is applied and then sprayed with PB Blast it slightly liquifies and melts grease into the pores/cavities/etc. I work that PB straw in every frame hole at every angle. Even melted a 90° bend on one straw for certain access areas up under the engine frame where the steel pieces overlap. Thats the critical area where the salt/brine that blow in (box openings behind bumper), with mist from forward speed, tend to accumulate.

PB shot up in the box actually penetrates creases/folds where the FF lays up like snot. Also, I couldn’t get the FF all the way up the box (she said) like the grease. PB goes a lot farther and reaches places that need it. I think my frame is saturated at this point. FF works ok, although it and washes off quickly.

Not the hand model combo cocktail. The initial greasing does take some time, but after that one timer deal she is good to go. A few PB quick squirts here and there is the pause that protects.

Don’t knock my technique until you try it.

I'm not knocking it. In a high salt state the frame is only part of the concern. Everything else(suspension, bottom of bed, axle, etc) should be sprayed. You can't do that with grease. Plunging the frame with that fiberglass thing you have is great. But I'd spray everything else with FF. It doesn't wash off easily as you say. There are tons of videos online where people have had one application last an entire winter.

Seems like a solid deal to me. A little more than I paid, but also looks to be in better shape than what I started with.

Yeah I'm happy with it. I have a work truck from the town I work for. I take it home so I'm hoping that will curtail high mileage on this truck. I just needed something for myself and my wife. This really fits the purpose for me. And I have to say that my wife, who could care less about vehicles really likes riding in this truck. She has commented already many times about the ride and the comfort so to me that's a home run!
