I recently found a great deal on a takeoff 2016 Pro suspension from a local dealer. I know that it brings the front end of the truck near level, however my wife and I do plan on buying a camper in the future after the arrival of our daughter in August. Obviously the Pro suspension is tuned for handling off-road environments, but any input on how it does for towing?

The camper we're looking at is just over 7k lbs GVWR. Would I be better suited staying with the stock TRD Off-Road setup, or would I not see much of a difference in handling characteristics? Thanks for any input!

You will notice a major difference. The truck will feel tighter and more small bump compliant. Pull the trigger on them. Now towing you will notice sag in the rear, since there is no more rake with level front end. You can tackle that serval ways. I replaced my leaf springs with custom Alcan leaf pack, and added CB +1 shackles. Problem solved. Air bags another option or just shackles. I defiantly suggest something or you will have sagging rear end when towing.

The traction control on the Tundra is best suited when you have a minimum of 3/4” rake when loaded. Cornering without the rake may cause the front brake anti-lock system to freak out. Mine did this frequently until I fixed the rake issue.

Appreciate the input. I figured there would be a rake issue when under load. We’re probably not looking to pull the trigger on a camper until late winter / spring, for the best pricing. I’ll take some time and research leaf spring / shackle options.

I put Alcan leaf springs on mine. Love the way it rides. I have about 400lbs in the bed.

Mine sags more than I would like when towing but I have had no issues with handling or stopping. The TRD Pro suspension doesn’t effect the factory payload or towing ratings.

When you order from them, do they have a kit or is it custom to each truck? I'll try to look their site up later. Thanks!

You’ll fill out a form on the website asking what you use it for and how much weight. And then before he makes them he’ll call you and ask more questions. He’s name is bill ford

Before you order, get a good idea on what camper you want and the TW. Let Bill know that weight.

I installed airbags on my Pro. I simply measure hitch height before I put the trailer on, and after. The amount it sags I then "undo" with inflating the airbags. For my ~5000 lbs trailer that is 1.5 inch or so of sag and 30 to 40 lbs in the airbags (depending on what is in the truck bed). Works like a charm. The whole setup, truck plus trailer, is nicely level.

No, nothing noticeable. Just don't forget to deflate the airbags to their minimum (5 psi).

I'm with TundraPro2019. I installed Airlift in my '16 and I found it too bouncy. It felt that it is riding on the jounce stop all the time, especially when deflated to 5psi. I currently have Firestones paired with Daystar cradles in my '20. It's a lot better ride. It improved even more after installing the 5100's The compression and rebound between the OEM non-TRD vs 5100 is night and day just by compressing it manually before install. I have my truck be loaded up to 1200# 24/7 plus pulling a 1880# trailer with 2200# racecar on occasion.

Looks really clean under there!! Where did you put the compressor (if you installed one at least)?

Oh, and yes to the Daystar Cradles. I installed them too. I can't imagine doing without. If you do any offroading, and drop your rear wheel too far, the airbag will just tear apart otherwise.

No, compressor and air tank yet. But im planing on hanging it in the cavity between the inner and outer bed skin.

Cool idea! Looks like there will be enough room for a compressor (barely) but I'd be interested in seeing how you fasten that.
