Original engine blew a rod thru side of the block. Was hoping to find a detailed thread about how to pull complete engine. the motor had 149900 trouble free miles then gave up the ghost. Have a used engine with 40,000 miles ready to put in. Any help available. Just removed and replaced 5.7 in 97 Chev last week on sons truck, so i have chainfall and engine leveler already. Never had to pull a Toyota. I am on a shoestring budget already, but have got to get it done somehow. Any and all help will be appreciated. thanks Mike

Ouch, this is the third engine failure I’ve read about on here. I’ve pulled diffs, axle housings, t-cases, body panels, headers, transmissions and suspension parts off a few older vehicles, but never an engine. So unfortunately I’m of no help other than to offer some words hoping it all goes smoothly. Would be really interested in pics and a write-up, though, if you’re so inclined.

Wait, I thought I heard about a link where you can download the Factory Service Manual? If so, I’m guessing it would have an instructional write-up on how to R&R a Tundra engine.

Yeah, I spent the big bucks on a used Tundra 5.7 and some puke rods with relatively low mileage? And the cam tower thing makes me wonder as well.
