    Hi All,
I know there are a lot of threads on noise reduction and upgrading sound systems, but I'm in a bit of a unique situation. I'm losing my hearing. I don't know how long I have left before it's gone completely, but loud noises will definitely speed up the process. Even though my 2016 Tundra Limited is fairly quiet already, I'm going to further enhance that by adding sound deadening mats/materials to the floorboard and doors, and adding a heavy rubber mat to the bed. I also want to make some adjustments to the sound system so I can get really nice sound at very low volumes. Would like to listen to music as along as I can before I can't anymore. Any suggestions for some speaker upgrades that will sound really good at low volume in a somewhat soundproofed vehicle? Thanks.

Are you wanting to keep the upgrade to just speakers?
Or are there any other possible audio upgrades you've considered?

As for speakers, man, there's no shortage of good options. So last question.

Is there a budget you'd like to stay around under?

I think I can probably achieve the goal with just speaker upgrades, but I won’t take swapping out the head unit off the table. I’d like to keep it reasonable at 2k or less for the stereo portion. I don’t see any big amps or subwoofers in this situation, so I’m thinking that’ll cover it. I was thinking I’d keep the factory head unit and just swap out the door and dash speakers with better ones.

    Good luck in your quest.
I’m hearing impaired. Too many decades of fire trucks and unprotected shooting took a toll that can’t be undone.

Jealously guard what hearing you have everyone, losing one of your 5 senses sucks azz. Higher pitched female voices and little kids I can’t hear hardly at all.
(Looking for the silver lining, neither usually is saying anything I want to hear anyway;))

Sorry to hear about your hearing loss, been accused by wife that Im deaf.....I've opted for ********* System 1 w/door speakers with the OEM head unit. Planning installing it soon after I receive it. Prior to that I'm going to do some extensive sound dampening. Elected to got with Soundskins as its a 3 in 1 material. Butyl, foil and acoustic foam, its not the cheapest alternative. There are many dampening products on the market and they all do a good job and installed any of them would be a huge improvement over stock....which is pretty much non existent. The ********* is a plug and play using OEM wiring and installed looks like OEM.....Except for the sub woofer behind the back seat which you cant see anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was going to use dynamat, but will look at soundskins as an alternative. I had looked at the ********* options, but felt like they were more focused on “turning it up” than they were on quality sound at lower volumes. Perhaps some who have it installed can comment on the lower volume sound quality.

No worries...There are numerous choices for both sound dampening and audio upgrades....It can be a hard decision. The Audio thread on this forum has alot of good information/insight. And don't forget to check out YouTube for sound dampening.
