Use your rails, perfect if extensions are used due to cover. Magnets sufficient for top mount, barely adequate for under mount I hate to say it, but more durable and versatile than fixed, plastic oem.

20$ for two at Lowes. Takes AA.

    Thx for the heads up!
I have a bed rug too. Is the magnet strong enough through the rug to stay in place? I don’t have rails.

Unfortunately not. The magnets are the size of pencil erasers (4). The rail is required.

Thx. I have 2’ long Velcro straps that secure stuff VERY well on the rug, I’m going to have to look at the light in the store and see if there’s a way to finagle it.
It currently holds a flashlight near the tailgate but an area light would have a place too.
